The best handheld system is by far the PSP and, when it comes out, the PSP2 [or rather the NGP as it's being called] and the one reason I say that is because of the power and graphics of the system. The DS and 3DS [I'm assuming on the 2DS, don't own one and prolly won't for years] are fun and to me seem more like they can be for anyone and everyone to use. They're are fun games I enjoy from the system [Final Fantasy games, Kingdom Hearts, Pokemon] but in terms of gaming and system power, Sony owns the handheld category. Graphics and gameplay on the PSP are PS2 worthy, and the upcoming 'NGP' appears to have the graphic power of the PS3. For hardcore gamers, the PSP/NGP is really the better of the two. For the more casual, everyday gamer, DS is prolly better. I have more games on PSP [FF games, Star Ocean, Kingdom Hearts, even others] and enjoy it more for the games and even other capabilities. Not to mention the ability to buy old PS1 games and put them on the PSP, or classic games from even before that which the Playstation store has for PSP. So I have to say PSP, and when the NGP comes out it will dominate the 3DS [I base that assumption on the fact the NGP looks PS3 worthy and from what I hear the 3DS isn't doing the best, but that's because a lot of games aren't out yet]. |

Between PSP and DS, the choice for me is easy. The DS is the superior gaming machine. What it lacks in graphics it makes up for with intriguing games and a uniqueness that sets it apart from just being a portable home console. For me, the PSP is the place to go to play inferior games to what you have on the console. Because the only thing that sets it apart from home console gaming is portability, the games released for it feel like lackluster variants of their PS2 and PS3 brethren. And it doesn't help that it has a single, pitiful nub. The NGP will fix the PSP's problems in every way, with better (and dual) analog sticks, touch screen and touch pad, 3G, and many more interesting ideas. The games too, as a result, will be much better. Nothing I played on PSP ever held me for more than a few minutes, and I always went back to my DS. The games were simply better there. I now own a 3DS. The software at launch was lackluster, with only a couple of games worth mentioning (SSFIV3D's acronym is long enough to count as two), but what system launch games aren't? The games down the road are more than enough to make me content with my purchase, such as a true RE, a new Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Kid Icarus, Paper Mario, Super Mario 3D, Assassin's Creed, Etrian Oddysey, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts 3D, Star Fox, Ocarina of Time, Layton vs Ace Attorney, Tales of the Abyss, and all of the unannounced titles I hope to see at E3. The hardware and the built in software alone have been able to put the 3DS into my daily gaming cycle, thanks to the genius that is Street Pass and Play Coins. ![]() |

That kinda plays true to the point that the DS system is a lot more accessible to the everyday gamer, rather they are a more casual style or in some cases hardcore. However, I don't think that the PSP is the place to play inferior games. There are many games that have great excelled on the PSP that were meant for the PSP, and they carry themselves rather well. I can't name too many of them that I don't have, but games like KH: Birth By Sleep, The Dissidia series, and even FFVII: Crisis Core. Even moreso than the DS, I think the PSP makes it easier to work with classic titles as well, including remakes or ports to the system from their previous system, and the same can be said when referring to new games ported to it. However, for both the DS and PSP, I think trying to port current-gen titles or creating a game for PS3/360/Wii and making a version for PSP or DS is a joke. The games are typically dumbed down, stripped to the core, and aren't that fun. Back on the PSP though, I think the success of various games that are made for the PSP alone is a big thing. I wouldn't call them inferior, and for any kind of gamer most of the great PSP games are worth the money that the consoles charge. For the 3DS, yeah, all launch titles for any system aren't worth much. If I get a 3DS someday you listed out most of the games I can't wait to get. Ocarina of Time? Starfox? Kingdom Hearts? Tales of The Abyss? Not to mention the potential of great games from both the past or new games from various series for the future make the future of the system pretty high. However for the 3D features and selling point of that, I think it's a gimmick that will run its course. People buying the system will do so for the great games coming out, not for the 3D. After all, everyone I know who has one or will be getting one, says they don't use the 3D feature and probably never will. Anyway, before I rant on anymore [I tend to do that a lot ;_; ..] I'll just say that the PSP, I think, is still the superior handheld system based on the power and graphics of the system, with great games that help carry it for a more hardcore gamer. The DS, however, really fits any kind of gamer from casual to hardcore. So that means that the DS can certainly sell better and be more popular, but from a gaming view I just think the PSP is far superior. When the NGP hits the shelves, the 3DS should have a lot of great games out, and that means it will take a bit for the NGP to catch up. However, I think [like you mentioned] the NGP is going to clear up a lot of faults the PSP may have with it's interface and system, and by the time both systems are in full swing I think the NGP will outshine the 3DS in terms of gaming. The 3DS will prolly always be the more popular and sell more units thanks to all the people it appeals to, but I think the NGP will be the better gaming handheld. I ranted on even after I said I would stop. I need a new hobby. >>; |

I agree with the dude above me. But I have to say, even though the I recognize the PSP is far more superior, I love my DS more than my PSP. It's not hard to explain. I just love the games that are on the DS better than the PSP. The PSP games are definitely made for the PSP. But we can say the same thing for the DS games. It no doubt that the DS games are made for the DS. Both console have something that both will never have. Get what I mean? And another factor I have to add in is that I'm a Nintendo fan. I love Nintendo's first and second party franchises. Heck Nintendo been in my life since I was born. But don't get me wrong. I recognize the PSP as the superior handheld console. BUT I love my DS more. So I think the DS is the best handheld system... FOR ME. ![]() |

Yeah. The DS is most likely the more popular in most regions among most fans, but the PSP is indeed the better in terms of gaming power. I get what you mean by each having games the other wouldn't, but there are some games I'd be interested to see crossing the market. I would love to see Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days made for PSP with much better graphics. I love the game itself, but it would be nice to have better graphics for Roxas' video game. However, that game prolly has the best graphics of the DS, or in the least close to the best. Especially the cutscenes and whatnot. You couldn't really see any games from PSP cross over, though. Not unless their look and feel changed drastically. I'm pretty excited to see what the NGP does with PS3-level power, a proper controller layout with dual sticks, and the addition of a touch screen like the DS has. |

In all honesty, I really don't think graphic should matter. Amazing graphics are a plus side when I play games. But if the gameplay sucks, then there's no point in playing it. And besides, I never want a PSP game on the DS and vice versa. Their games are what makes them special. Like I'm pretty content with my Professor Layton games being on the DS. And that's the same with Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core on the PSP. Like I said, I recognize the PSP as the superior handheld console in terms of gaming. It's just i prefer my DS. Yeah I know. Even my friends said that I'm weird because I said the same thing. o.O ![]() |

That's kinda what I'm saying. The games on DS are meant for DS and those on PSP for PSP, and they can't really crossover. With something kine Kingdom Hearts though, it's a game that was originally on the PS2, so I was just saying I'd like to see 358/2 Days on the PSP or something with improved graphics, because it's Roxas' main game and he's probably my favorite KH character along with Sora. Trust me, I know graphics aren't a big deal. My all time favorite games are FFIX and Chrono Cross, and I play through both games multiple times a year. I also play through FFVII and VIII each year, and am playing through VII and VIII at the same time on my PS3 right now. I only use graphics when comparing the systems because that can equate to the power of the system in terms of what it can do, and also because today a majority of gamers care about having the best graphics, so it's a selling point for any system. I can't wait for Ocarina of Time and Tales of The Abyss to come out on the 3DS. That may cause me to actually but that sooner than a couple years like I said before, just because of how much I love those games. I'm pumped to see gameplay and if they added a bunch of new things, too. |

Not too sure. I like all mine. I would have to say right now is the PSP, though I like my DS Lite and my Gameboy Advanced because it can play my original Pokemon Silver where all my good Pokemon are. Though I like the PSP because of the games and it can double as a movie player along with music. But really it's kind of a hard call. |

Well IMO I the DS is the best due to the fact that it has many unique and good games on it and it pretty cheap, though the PSP is still pretty good as well and has some great games as well, just not as cheap as the DS. Also love how the DS(more spesifcally yhe lite) is reverse compatible with some nice classic of the GBA era, and also remakes of those old you love(such as Super Mario 64 or the upcomming Legend of Zelda OoT) and new adaptions of other of those that you love such as Pokemon.(^-^) ![]() |

I think the Nintendo handheld consoles are the best for me. I love playing a lot of Gameboy and Nintendo DS games. Very fun when you can play against anyone in different places with the DS. ![]() |

Well if I had to pick it'd be Nintendo. Not saying Sony is bad just that Nintendo makes more durable products that last. Sony's psp is kinda delicate and you have to be careful. Both handhelds offer great games. Besides Nintendo has been doing handhelds longer than Sony so they should know a thing or two lol. |
