Okay, not a direct question, but who other than me has bought/played Skyrim? Game looks amazing, still researching if I really do want to spend full price on it or not. Been watching countless videos of the gameplay and classes for a while and it looks tempting, but I'm not sure if it'll keep me interested enough. And absolutely no one I know has even touched the main storyline so not sure how good that actually is. I'd definitely buy it if it had some online component as I used to be a heavy mmo guy back in the day. Still deciding what type of character I want to start out as, though I know you can switch. With Skyrim, apparently you can choose anything and become anything, though obviously if you start off as some character for magic and want to be a warrior, your skills will be bad. I'd prefer someone well rounded, sometimes my skills might be stronger or weaker at times, but I think I'd like a well-rounded character, one with good melee in case I need to finish off guys, but I also like range to really get a start/jump on killing my enemies. So come discuss Skyrim (PC/console) and post your characters, I'd like to see them. P.S. I heard Skyrim has issues on PS3 with saving/lag. ------- |

Best answer from me is that we wait for the Game of the Year edition. The current DLC and DRM trend has me not buying first day releases since there is a possibility of a "better" and more "upgraded" version of this. Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |

Nah, it's inferior to Oblivion, don't bother with that crap. |

I see this and tempted to share my characters. Platform : PC Name : Hawke Level (Currently) : 33 Picture : Here. Style : Dual 1-Hand, Stealth & Mage. For some odd reason, I get few glitches such as teleported Dragon skeleton, voiceless person (one for the time being), and others that I don't noticed. I must say, it's a great game to get. More update might come... UPDATE EDIT : 9-12-2011, 12.11am : Finished Main Quest on Level 33. Proof |

Well I ordered it last week and got it on Tuesday (though amazon said it was gonna be here on Wednesday!). So I basically got free shipping for one-day shipping... Amazon win. :) Anyways, I got it on PS3, which seems bad compared to the PC version but no biggie, it's still great. Turned off Saves on Travel to have it less laggy, which is a huge problem that apparently they're not willing to fix ASAP. My character is called "GIRUGAM2SH", it eventually fused 3 parts together, but still cool. I chose to be a Wood Elf and trying to get my arch up. I maxed sneak, though I'm only at level 22 or so, and only being cause my sneak is max, but I seriously need to build up sneak/one-handed. This game has a TON of exploits, my friend is sick of hearing about 'em but doesn't complain about the mods/console? This game also has a lot of bugs and glitches, some people can't even finish a certain quest line cause they killed someone too early (coincidentally). My only real complain is that you don't know how strong any enemies are. Basic animals are weak, but when you start seeing new types of enemies it's like "hmm strong or, holy f#ck!!!" I originally was gonna go all stealth/assassin (stabbing), but I like the archery so I've been building on that now though it's still low. I think I can have Aela as a follower now and exploit free lessons to max it eventually (though I need more gold to probably do so). Haven't bought a house yet, though that might be helpful though as of now I don't need one as I have my room in the Companions place. Once I get maybe around 20k or so I'll worry about it, but I won't even be spending anything to get one anyways. I've been working sorely on the Companions quest, not to spoil anything but I think once I finish 'em all I can have anyone become my follower in it. So the one-handed trainer guy, who's conveniently apart of the guild (as well as heavy armor trainer) is also there together! I've only killed 3 dragons so far, been figuring out stuff about enchanting and whatnot, but yeah despite being level 22 or so, I'm still under leveled in terms of strength. I really need to boost up my archery, one handed, maybe more destruction and even block (and I that trainer is also there!). I really understand now about how they say "you become the character you play", I thought I was gonna be only some stealthy archer assassin, but I've been using destruction and I'm so interested in conjuration, too. I really want to join the DB soon and eventually get Shadowmere as you hvae in your picture there, who you can use to exploit as well. The only real issue I sometimes have is finding nice items to either keep or sell, but I'm at my weight carry limit, so I have to leave and fast travel back to a store or my room, then go back, then go back. My goals this week is to max archery, one-handed (maybe), and if block is there, why not to level up. Now I've only been doing the Companions stuff mostly and smaller stuff, but should I visit the Greybeards now or something? The quests where I need to like go near the middle snow Moutain is hard. Tried the Nettlekune? quest and got to the top to be bombarded by annoying witches and some crazy thing who used fire to eventually kill me. I also wish you could take screen caps on the PS3 version, no idea why you CAN'T!! I'll have more to share later. Also any tips or advice would help, me too. I'm worried I'm too weak to like do harder stuff from those other Misc. quests. The Companions stuff is just at my alley, though bad luck was that they were like heavy armor wearing 2-handed weapon using enemies, which happens to be a more stealth based assassin who uses less armor to tread soft. Been saving some perks as well, since my right side of the Sneak tree is max, I want to put more into Archery (other skills too low). I haven't even visited the Winterhold College yet, need to find other trainers to help me and do other stuff too. But yeah I thought I wasn't gonna like it, but it's pretty fun and takes your life away. :( I just hope they fix some of the bugs in the game, though it doesn't seem like they will soon, but I'm sure once I get my skills where they need to be I can start owning like I used to in past mmo/rpgs. ^_^ PS: Gonna play it until maybe the weekend comes up, but I might trade it in while I can get 33 or so for it. I like it though, don't get me wrong, and although I can play hours without breaks, it just starts to get me bored or frustrated. It's slow, while most of the games I play are faster paced, but I'll see if I decide to keep it or not. ------- |

I was hyped to see you picked it up, haha. You knew where I stood on getting it. How far have you ended up getting by now? I had to start over after my PS3 got the YLOD and I lost everything. I had been level 33 or something, and in my replay I got to 21. Once there, I used a trick to reach level 100 with all my skills and reach the level cap of 81, cause I wanted to see how builds worked in the end. After I did that and played around some with it, I decided to start a whoooole new game Friday, and am level 16 now. Decided to start over now that I know exactly how I want to build my guy up. |

[@Shuy] I traded it in last Friday, but seriously, it's one of the best games ever made. I'm not the biggest fan of the theme, like the tradition dragon-ish theme, but it's still awesome. The game is literally endless and can be your best friend and worst enemy. I only got up to level 25-27 but I did max sneak so that's probably why. Though that's not good cause dragons appear at your level, so if your other skills of offense are weak, you might be in trouble. I was a Stealthy Archer/Assassin, but my arrows started kicking ass. I had eventually joined the Thieves guild and added the quest to find the boy for the DB guild, but the game froze one night while I was playing (a few days before I was going to trade it in anyways) and corrupted my file. Even though I disabled auto-saves on travel, it still auto-saves on certain parts and somehow must've froze on one of those.... D: I saved often, but before that I was on a roll and didn't save, but yeah, random auto-saves... I wish there was a quick-save feature like they have on PC (or even screen capture, hello?). Surprised it didn't win any games of the year awards or anything, though it's still early to say. The game has a ton of exploits yeah, it's pretty easy to level up your entire character even before you leave the scene from the first dragon (in Helgen). It does ruin the game a bit, since I did it with Sneak, but you gotta know what skill to do it for and whatnot, cause it eventually hurts you if you want to train your skills (for free, follower exploit). I wanted to eventually buy a house and get married (to Aela maybe :D), but never got the chance, too. I was gonna do so after becoming the ultimate Dragonborn master, but yeah, that would've taken a while, too. I did a lot of the quests, and started moving around more often after I was strong enough to fight trolls and mammoths. Also never got the chance to get Shadowmere from the DB, wanted to see how strong it was in person. But overall, the game is great, a crap ton of bugs though which they don't really plan to fix, or if they can at all, but a good game. I'll use the credit towards UFC:U3 and get that half off, so yeah good deal for me. Oh yeah, sucks for your YLOD. [@Ray] I hated that joke a lot. Trying to get tips from watching videos about Skyrim and all the top comments are of that lame ass joke. Has to have been the most abused joke I've heard lately... ------- |

Actually, DA, it has two GOTY awards already. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/gamehunters/post/2011/12/live-updates-spike-tv-video-game-awards/1 http://www.justpushstart.com/2011/12/04/2011-game-of-the-year-winners/ |

FFFFF, I can believe you traded it in! To me, it just feels like a game that can take forever to really beat and clear properly, and also is a game that you could go back and play multiple times over, just because you can do it differently each time. Heck, I had to buy a second copy since my original was stuck in the PS3. I'm still waiting to see if the factory that gets the YLOD one sent to, will send the game back to the store like they asked, so I can at least trade it in. They normally don't send it back, though. As for exploits and bugs, yeah, there's a lot. In the character I lost and the one I stopped playing as after I maxed to test builds, there's this one dragon that is like impossible to kill. His animation is bugged and doesn't work, he flies backwards, he heals right before you kill him [if you can with arrows, because he can't land properly] and he teleports. That dragon is actually bugged for a lot of people, too. A Manual quicksave option on PS3 would be awesome, and screen shots too. As for the freezing, I've actually had an issue with that since patch 1.2 on my PS3. The game can tend to randomly freeze and you have to manually reset the PS3. It's not from the save, but its just something that randomly happens. Annoying, really. Oh, and as for Shadowmere, he's nothing to get excited about. He looks cool, is a bit tougher than normal horses and heals faster, but he can still die and doesn't do anything out of the ordinary. I got him on my second character, and he wasn't that great. Nice to have, though, but he was nothing like his Oblivion counterpart. I never played Oblivion, but I hear Shadowmere was amazing. and yeah, like Inu pointed out, it's getting some GOTY stuff. AND RAY, All I gots to say is, FUS RO DAH. [Arrow in the knee meme is one of the fastest spreading memes Ive ever seen, and also one of the most overused I've ever seen it. Just crazy stuff, and its everywhere, LOL.] |

[@Inu] Oh that's strange, a friend told me some other game won at the VGAs (which I didn't see this year). Thought AC won or something. Am Glad Portal 2 won over the popular FPSes for best multiplayer I think. Again, didn't see it. ;P [@Shuy] Well yeah I originally bought Skyrim to spend time on until February. I also told myself to get games that would have replay value/online, and yes, Skyrim does that, but I'm sure I'd be able to do everything over time and then it's like, "I'm done". If Skyrim had online I'd definitely keep it, cause that'd be great though it might ruin some aspects of the game in itself. And yeah, one thing I hate especially lately with BF3 is I HATE bugs, and the developers aren't even going to fix them for some reason... The latest patch when I did download it did fix some issues, but none of the major ones. They spent so many hours in playing the game and making the official guide, but not to fix or find the bugs? The main patch didn't really fix any of them, and yeah the bugs which I found on the quests were really annoying. One quest I had to talk to this lady to get directions to find this dragon, but you can't click on her. The arrow points to her as you have to talk to her, I tried walking in the house she was standing outside of, I tried going in it, I even attacked her to get her to attack me, then sheath my weapon and try to restart. Nothing. If there are bugs on quests that's definitely an issue with me, but it's really annoying that they won't fix it. Maybe they can't? Doubt it. Yeah I barely played Oblivion and I did see Shadowmere, was better. I only wanted Shadowmere to eventually level up my magic skills. I wasn't expecting to use magic much with my type of character, but if you see the summons you can learn at master level, it's insane. I mean if you can summon two Dremora lords, you won't even need to move at all. Hell one's strong enough as it is. It's wearing like Daedric armor and using some crazy ass double handed axe, maybe Daedric axe. But yeah I wanted to play it a bit more, at least into January but it corrupted my save and I didn't want to risk loosing more value on the game. Though it's a shame that MW3 was 45$ and this game only got like 10$ less... D: ------- |

That is true, I don't follow much game shows, and that's the only one I know of on TV at least. I knew for sure it'd win best RPG and was good enough to win GOTY despite the horrific amount of bugs. Sidenote, lol Most overyped game: MW3. So true. ------- |
