Looking for Romantic Comedy Anime
|
Hello, after being deeply saddened by School Rumble--it wasn't supposed to be sad, but it didn't end how I wanted it to. I really don't want to watch an anime that, in my opinion is a "bad" ending. I have made strict guidelines of what the anime may or may not have, sorry if I seem picky, but I would like to enjoy anime to the fullest. 1. No Harems 2. No Incest 3. No Homo 4. No tragedies 5. Romantic Comedy 6. Fanservice or not 7. Has ended, no or little chance of another season or OVA 8. The first girl you see must be with the first guy you see, unless they are tied by family relationship -- ex. Final Approach Thanks! I'm eager to hear any recommendations! |

I didn't realize it'll be so hard to think of series with such genre. What those two said, and perhaps try Nodame Cantabile if you have not. |

I wonder if you have seen these animes but if you haven't, I'll suggest Lovely Complex, Toradora, Itazura na Kiss, Kobato, Super Gals, and Ultramaniac. Skip Beat and Gakuen Alice are good too.. =) I'm not sure about Kare Kano but I'm also trying to watch them.. =) |

Ano Natsu de Matteru is a very good recent one, and I think it meets all of your criteria. It's kind of supernatural, though. I think the Chobits anime had a happy ending, right? But that's also supernatural, huh. I watch so many anime in that genre. Fruits Basket is excellent, but the manga is much better than the anime. You could watch the anime without reading the manga and still understand what's going on, but the manga makes more sense, really. Oh, and it's also supernatural. Hanasaku Iroha was really cute. I won't give any spoilers, but it definitely meets one of your criteria in particular. I'm pretty sure it meets all of them, but it fits a specific item to a T. Oh, Kaichou wa Maid-sama is also good, but the manga is ongoing, and I think there might eventually be another season of the anime. Kimi ni Todoke is another romantic comedy that will probably get yet another season, given how the manga is still running. Ouran High School Host Club counts as a romantic comedy, right? It's not really a harem, since only xxxxxx likes the main character at the end of the manga. Oh, but you wanted anime. The anime is even less harem-y than the manga, if I remember correctly. People already mentioned Special A, so yeah. That was actually the first real romantic comedy I ever watched, so I have very fond memories of it. Toradora is one of those really great romantic comedies, so much so that I would be surprised if you haven't watched it yet. But yeah, that's all on my watched list. If it were me, for the anime versions, I would go in this order: Toradora -> Hanasaku Iroha -> Ouran High School Host Club -> Special A -> Ano Natsu de Matteru -> Chobits -> Kaichou wa Maid-sama -> Kimi ni Todoke -> Fruits Basket. For the manga, it would be more like this: Fruits Basket -> Ouran High Schoo Host Club -> Chobits -> Special A -> Toradora. Hanasaku Iroha and Ano Natsu de Matteru don't have mangas, as far as I know; they're a little too recent to get manga adaptations. The manga for Kimi ni Todoke and Kaichou wa Maid-sama hasn't ended yet. TL;DR: Toradora, Hanasaku Iroha, Ouran High School Host Club, Special A, Ano Natsu de Matteru, Chobits, Kaichou wa Maid-sama, Kimi ni Todoke, Fruits Basket

Karin (also known as Chibi Vampire) - has more comedy than romance i admit, but in my opinion was a very satisfying watch. Though it is only 24 episodes long and not very well-known, i do highly recommend for you to watch. |

@ Poko- I'm surprised you didn't suggest Kimi to Boku XD Well, I agree with what the others said about Kimi ni Todoke, and I also suggest Kimi to Boku. Its first season ended and its second season is currently airing. The only thing that might not fit your requirements is the whole first girl you see doesn't end up with the first guy you see (I don't really know what you mean by that anyway >>), but it's still a great anime and does have quite a bit of cute romance (And great comedy moments). |

Hmm... kinda hard to think of. Usually Romantic comedy is a harem at same time. Well, I guess I can think of some. Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi I'd recommend against Toradora, as it's pretty much what I'd call a tragedy. Tsukuyomi: Moon Phase Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu I'd recommend Allison to Lillia, but it's stated as just Romance Maybe Mahoraba (Don't mistake with Maburaho) Marmalade Boy (This is kinda close to breaking "no incest" rule, but the characters are not siblings, they're just living together due to weird parents) Video Girl Ai |
