What is it? A few years ago, Jonathon, hosted a battle tournament when Diamond and Pearl were still new, and I'd like to try and give this another shot! I will be hosting this tournament and all of the applicants will be be assigned a number at random. Then these numbers will be pulled at random to decide match-ups. This will make match-ups as fair as possible. If you get paired up with someone who has more experience than you, that's just the way it is. This thread can also be used to ask for pointers or ask opinions on team builds. What are the rules? -This is a 6v6 Single Battle tournament. Meaning it will be a full team of 6 individual pokemon battling 1 on 1. -Sleep clause IS IN EFFECT. Each player can only have one Pokémon asleep at a time (Pokémon that are put to sleep due to Rest do not count). -Species clause: Each Pokémon on a player's team must be of different species or National Pokédex number. -Item clause: Each Pokémon on a player's team must be holding different items. -Evasion clause: Double Team, Minimize, BrightPowder, and Lax Incense are banned. This is sometimes expanded to include less direct measures to increase evasion, such as Acupressure, Moody, Sand Veil, and Snow Cloak which are being included in this tourney. -OHKO Clause: A Pokemon may not have the moves Fissure, Guillotine, Horn Drill, or Sheer Cold in its moveset. -Pokemon from any tier can compete except for UBERS. UBERS ARE BANNED. If you don't know what tier lists are or what pokemon are on them you may find it here. I know most of these pokemon are currently unavailable, and will be explained later on why ubers are still banned. -If any of these rules are violated, then much to my dismay, you will have to be disqualified. This is in an effort to keep it as even as possible. If there are any cases which need to be disputed or any questions to be asked, you may either post in this thread or send me a PM. When will this take place? The date at this point is JANUARY 10TH, 2014. This is a Friday. We will be going by Pacific Standard Time which starts on GMT 8:00. This is to give people a chance to train a team if they don't have one already. Team building can take a long time if one is not dedicated to it. The tournament starts on this date but when battles take place are up to the discretion of the two challengers. Pokébank releases around Christmas time so Ubers will be available when the tournament starts. Ubers are banned for this reason. Will there be prizes? Of course! But since everything comes out of my personal game, I am limited in what I can give. I will be competing too, and in the off-chance that I somehow or take a prize spot, then that prize and all subsequent prizes will be displaced one tier. "Enough jibber-jabber! Tell us the prizes already! Alright, alright. First Prize: A SHINY Beldum! It has an Adamant nature. Second Prize: One of the 6 available starters (Froakie, Fennekin, Chespin, Charmander, Squirtle, or Bulbasaur) with their hidden ability + a Master Ball. Third Prize: One of the 6 available starters (Froakie, Fennekin, Chespin, Charmander, Squirtle, or Bulbasaur) with their hidden ability. In addendum, if one of the victors owns Pokemon Y, I can also throw in a Houndour, Pinsir, or Lairon. I know the prizes aren't much except for the first prize but like I said, this is coming out of my personal file. Who is competing? Anyone can compete as long as they have access to the wireless connection. Friend codes will be added to the thread later. Question here, I'm interested in joining but my question is, can i assume that you will be using SOMGON sanctioned rules, not the VGC Rules?  |

Yes, this most closely resembles the Smogon rules for the OU tier. These are the standard rules followed in most online matches. It seems like you have prior knowledge on the rulesets but in case you want to refresh yourself, or anyone wants to read up, I will link the clauses and banlists. Smogon Clauses and Ban Lists I also updated the rules, adding the OHKO Clause and the explanation on why Ubers are banned under the When will this take place? section.

I would probably be interested in taking part, although I won't be much of a threat since my team is nowhere near being competitively balanced. Me participating largely depends on my work schedule that day though. So I'd have to get back to you once I find it out.    |

@Jon: Alright, that sounds good! Just to clarify though, the tournament only starts on that day, that does not mean you have to necessarily battle that day. It's up to the competitors to agree with their opponent a good time to battle. Whether that's a few days down the road is up for the two of you to decide. I won't put time restrains on how long it takes for a battle unless it's obscenely long. Go ahead and think about it some more, I eagerly await your response!

@Haseo - That sounds good then. Like I said, I don't mind taking part, just don't expect much of a challenge. I'll be able to transfer some of my team from B2 by the point, but none of my Pokemon are geared for competitive play in the slightest, since I don't do the competitive scene. They're likely going to be pushovers compared to you guys. |

And for those who aren't sure if you want to compete or not: GO FOR IT! This is mainly for fun, I don't expect anyone to be knowledgeable about the competitive scene. There are trainers with various skill levels here, you have nothing to lose! Go ahead and sign up, who knows you may do better than you thought you would! Alright everyone, today is the day! There are less people competing than I would have hoped, but there is luckily enough for everyone to be matched up, at least in round one. With there being 3 participants in round two, or the semi-finals, I'll need suggestions on how to handle that since I feel as if one of the competitors getting a free skip to the finals would be unfair. Please leave your suggestions below! I should be around for pretty much the rest of the week. I might need a day to find another Pokemon for my team though since Pokemon Bank is still out of the question. (I'm using Xerneas, which I shouldn't use in a pvp battle). Anyway, I'll be around. I'll send Lat a message when I'm good to go. |

Just had my battle with Kuroga, and I came out victorious. Good game Kuroga, it was fun, we should definitely battle sometime again. I think that I'll be making a Winner's and Loser's Bracket just since there are so few people in the tourney.

My battle with Inu is complete as well- my troll fell apart after stepping on some sharp objects, so it wasn't as exciting as it was supposed to be. But a victory is a victory, all the same.  |

I guess now would be a good time to say that instead of winner's and loser's bracket we're just going to go by win/loss records. All of you participating should know this by now, but I thought I'd just put it down for public record. So far, the records are: Haseo: 4/0 Maiku: 1/1 Inuyasha: 1/3 Kuroga: 1/1 Jon: 0/2
