Well...I'm making a comp. right now and I say that Pentium D looks like it can be a good processor if it wasn't so expensive. And what you say is true...under some circumstances the Dual Core Processors look worse in some applications...but then again they also look really good under other applications as well. It doesn't matter much though, cause I think Intel P4 3.2 GHZ processor is good enough, if not better in some situations. ^___^

Haha.. oh I have a "dual core" but its just two processors... also had another 64 bit computer, truth is no matter how fast my processors are.. i always want windows to run faster, linux to make sense, and BeOS to run. Im personally not going to upgrade any hardware until the new OP systems start running right.

Dual core is basically a better version of Hyperthreading in a way allowing muliple threads being run. which is good for multitasking or programs that utlises multithreading to its advantage. similar to the 32bit/64bit idea. just cause u have a 64bit processor doesnt mean it'll run faster with 32bit applications. Most games right now are still single threaded and the best possible processor avaible (if u can pay for it) would be the fx-57 costing 1k USD eeek!..... if you want a cpu with decent price and pretty fast speed i would say athlon 64 3200+ to 3800+ would be a good range

Right now Dual core processor made by AMD is the fastest and it's called X2 4400+. I prefer AMD processor than Pentium though. This is because AMD processor generate less heat and can be easily overclock.

Dual Core is fastest than HyperThreading
it's like you have two processor in one processor
but not virtual processor like HT
