Yo back again! and have another interisting topic again If you were given a chance to name "anime" what will you name them? (If you were given rights to change the name "ANIME" wat will it be?) and.. i know this sounds silly but wit does "anime" mean???....

Hm... Goooooooood question... I think it would have to depend on what my anime was about, who the main characters are, if it's a shoujo or horror or yaoi, or whatever. I wouldn't be able to just PICK a name, you know? Anime doesn't really MEAN anything, I don't think. It's just a simplified way of saying 'Japanese Animation.' But, anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong. |

as i read somewhere, anime is simply the french word for animation. personally i wouldn't change the name, because i doubt there's a more suitable word than anime... even if the proper pronounciation is unclear ^_~ |

| lol adult cartoon... i just think anime is short for animation.... but since anime only refers to Japan-professionally made animations... a cool name would be Japanimation!! |

uhmm.. i thought HENTAI is the word for adult cartoon? .....And anime is a french word?????... my friend told me that anime is a name spelled backwards (EMINA) pronounced eminay which is her name....

anime is a french word for animation. the japanese, and everyone else happen to use it to distinguish animation from japan. and hentai doesn't necessrily mean "adult cartoon." it means "pervert", "perversion" and the like.     |

"Anime" is just the abbreviated form for the Japanese katakana word for animation, which is "Animeeshon" (アニメエション). Yes, Animé is also a French word, but I (personally) believe that they are different. "Anime" in Japanese isn't supposed to be pronounced as "Animei", or so our Nihongo teacher taught. I agree with miss kris-san on the hentai thing. It can mean a perverted person, or a racy video, anime, and the like. Same goes for "Ecchi" which is the Japanese way of pronouncing the letter "H", which would also lead to the word "Hentai". Hmm. Interesting flow of events. you mean hentai is "pornographic Anime", right? i think anime mean animation from japan, and hentai is an anime too, but of course they're diferent, hentai is hentai and anime is anime, the same is... both are animation from japan. sorry if i'm wrong |

| Oh my bad. It is "Pornographic anime" Not cartoon. Even if people think anime is cartoon. I thinks their both different. But why end this discussion? This is pretty interesting. So how about that Yaoi? Is it all guy? And what about if its all girls? what it called then? |

Yaoi is when there is explicit or mild adult material content. When it's just hinted, like let's say, Ban and Ginji from Get Backers, it's called Shounen Ai. Yuri is when there's explicit or mild adult material content concerning both female parties. But when it's just hinted, for example, Sakura nd Tomoyo from Card Captor Sakura (I did say that IT WAS JUST AN EXAMPLE), it's called Shoujo Ai. And I apologize, but I have to agree with Old Man Kai. You can't really end the discussion, not if there are people who wants to share... and, it's not like we're talking about anything offensive; we're just explaining anime terms. ��空����愛��人よ?
