Hokushin Itto Ryu style?
Link | by Rika-sama on 2005-07-26 05:38:38
Hey there. You're probably thinking: "Oh, she must be really stupid to not know what this sword style is..." But NO, thats wrong...

I know exactly what it is. I know it was founded by Chiba Shushaku, and how he first combined it at first with his family's tradition "Hokushin" and the other familiar sword style "Itto Ryu".

I also know that two of the Shinsen Gumi members went to this school. Namely: Yamanami Keisuke (1832-1865), and Toudou Heisuke (1844-1868).

It's quite tragic actually, those two men were really close ever since the beggining (Father-son relationship) and when Yamanami had to commit seppuku for deserting the Shinsen Gumi, Toudou was devistated. Not long after did he join with Itou Kashiitaro and his men to leave the SG as well. But then after a short time, Itou was killed by Kondo and Hijikata. When Toudou and others went to revtieve the dead body of Itou, Toudou, among others were ambushed and killed. T-T Its sad...

Others who shared this sword style were: Outlaw, Ryouma Sakamoto (?) He was wanted by many clans for crimes, and stuff like that. He was also an American Badass! ^^ He used western type stuff. He was a skilled swordsmen, but he liked using guns too! Another: Itou himself was a member of this school as well. No wonder Toudou joined him. O_O;

ANYWAY, back to my REAL point! Now, I know all of that stuff, here is the thing I really want to know. How exactly is the Hokushin Itto Ryu style used in battle? Does anyone know the exact moves they used to do? And they're stances? I just wanted to know that. ^_^

Thanks to anyone who can help me??

lol, though this stuff can seem cool and interesting at a glance,

I never can figure why people bother trying to figure out things from the past that don't teach us much about the present.

I mean...our lives are so complex and there's so much we have to learn about ourselves and where we're going, the people around us, and what to prepare for, but you spend all this time reading about samurai's and sword stances.

and I have no idea why you mentioned so much to prove you knew what you were talking about. I don't think whatever the hell you just said is common knowledge.

lol this message seems so negative, i'm not bashing your interests at all...

it's just when i read all the stuff you had in the top i just keep thinking

"what the hell? how is this relevant to life now AT ALL. How does this effect/help me through life?"

lol the answer is it doesn't ^^.

food for thought.

If you are japanese you must speak to me for I am always trying to learn new things!

I have never heard of that style before...but I have seen the Hiten Mitsurugi style in action!! Last night I was a witness to the Ultimate Techinque: Amakakeru Ryu no Hirameki! I really want to join a Kendo Dojo but there are none where I live. Do you practice Kendo? If you do, what is it like?

Well, GaiJin--A lot of ppl do say that to meh, but to tell you the truth, I'm a very historical person, and this stuff CAN help you in our modern times. It can teach you many lessons, even the Hokushin Itto Ryu! Yeah, that might seem weird, but its true. Plus, if it were not for that style, many samurai in the past may have not nessicarally become samurai, and for all we know, the war might still be going on like it had in the 19th century! c_c; Actually, maybe not...but you know my point...

Plus, in my case, I'm a writer, and I enjoy writing about these things. I'm also writing a story of the Shinsen Gumi, and my main character is Heisuke Toudou, and there is a fight scene, and it would be helpful to know the moves of his style.

Anyway, thats just me. I'm not telling you what to believe or what not to believe, but I like Japan's history. Actually, many ppl might think you have a good point, just I'm one of the outkasts! ^__^ Ja ne!
