What would be the cause of the end of the world?

There are many anime stories that include this kind of "crisis" of their world such as: 1. Invasion by creatures from outer space (alien) like from "Evangelion", "Soukyuu no Fafner" 2. Meteor rocks, supernova explosion, cosmic fracture from "Uchuu no Stellvia" 3. Dicloneous ("Elfen Lied") 4. World War (Gundam series) more others like diseases (such as AIDS), earthquake, tsunami, global warming etc. What do you think it would be the situation when OUR world ends?? |

| Uh...Let's see. The end of the world...Probably Global Warming, or there's a possibility that we'd just end up in a WWIII one day, and destroy ourselves from radiation due to nuclear bombs...o_o It's a possibility. |

Uh, actually, Klitch-san has a very good point... even if he was joking about it. Didn't out teachers say that the sun is a star? Well, it still is. Look at our sun. It is dying, for pete's sake. It's already orange-tinted. When I was young, it wasn't orange; it was bright yellow. It is progressing along its lifetime's course until supernova day. There is this verse in the Bible which says that the day will come when fire would rain down from the heavens and melt everything into nothing. There's a magazine that once published 20 different ways the world could end. Of the top of my head, they include: 1. Disease 2. Judgement Day 3. War 4. Global Warming 5. Wakig up and realizing it was just a dream (like the Matrix kind of) 6. Aliens Yeah well, you get the point. |

The end of the world does mean the end to the world, not just humans. But if cockroaches were to live to see humans go extinct, I'd hate to see gigantic roaches due to the pollution and constant exposure to bug spray that mutated them... EEEEEEHHHHHH!! |

Global warming is played up more that it really is. The truth is that the earth is only warming up like 2 degrees every ONE HUNDRED years. Fuck that by the time it melts the ice caps, my great great great great grandchildren would be around, and thats so far past me I dont really care too much bout them. I mean, my children, then their children, and kind of their children, past that I could care less >.>; By then they would have tech to get past the problem. About the sun, it hasnt changed one bit since you were born, it wont die in your lifetime, nor anytime soon. Stars last for billions of years. Our star was never the kind that was bright yellow, as its size was never that big a billion years ago let alone when you were little. Nuke War, Disease both could be ways the world ends, if not, then eventualy when the sun does go, in the far distant future. |

Let's have a little clarification here. When you say end of the world do you mean the extinction of the human race or the actual destruction of earth? If it's the former than anything from nuclear war to alien invasion (assuming there are aliens out there in the first place) would do the trick. If it's destruction of the earth than you should have a look at this site http://ned.ucam.org/%7Esdh31/misc/destroy.html Suffice to say, the most likely way the earth will be destroyed is when the sun finally dies, some sufficiently large object impacts into the earth or someone invents something that can possibly do the job. Global warming is very real. It's effects are slow to be sure and aren't gonna be noticable unless you take the long view. However much of it is due to human endeavours and not any natural occurrence. Deforestation, exhaust from vehicles and factories, and whatever stupid things that humans do. Twiddling your thumbs and hoping for the best is a stupid way to solve problems. If there is to be a solution, work must begin on it now. It doesn't matter if the solution doesn't bear fruit until the time of our great-great-great-great-grandchildren, you have to start working on it before anything will happen. |

You know how people used to say that if you took all the air pollution from the US and put it in the Amazon Forest, it would all go away because forests can help cure the air pollution? They were wrong. The Amazon Forest is 2nd with a very thin ozone layer. Humans, with the mere existance, help this earth rot faster. *jokingly* But if its a question about anything impacting the earth, then build a couple of mobile suits. *seriously* And what will happen in the future when our descendants have to live in space, not ever experiencing the home their ancestors were once born on? |
