Is it possible to create energy shields?

| I think it is possible, we just need to know how to control energy to create some kind of capsule that protect anything behind it, and of course a good source of energy, strong enough to resist direct attacks to it. |

| Dunno but all thats been interesting me for 2yrs I just never take the time to try ya know. But the human mind is powerful you can even trick yourself into being sick and it'll happen. So who knows anything is possible. |

| If someday we can achieve a level of technology so we may use the energy to protect ourelves against anythign hostile or the mind power to generate that shields, then we will be almost invincible |

Yes i see no reason why not, I'm not talking about a mind shield of any type but a shield of engery. Think, we can create artifical magnetic fields. may not be good for stopping a bullet but great for screwing up electronics. I guess I think of it like the membrane of a cell it will let repel things that have a charge diffrent from its own but allow uncharged things to pass through people generally forget if your totally sealed inside no air will get in so you'll die unless you take it down. Just think of you being the protons and neutrins in the center of a atom, the electrons zing around you because of the force the center puts on them increase the amount of electrons and I think you would be able to create a shield  |

| i dunno really... i guess it will be kinda hard 2 create energy shields..but i cant say its impossible ,after all scince is growing every single day. I think there will be some sort of device that could put up a barrier and i must say i quite agree with chosenone, the sheild may be made but creating a magnetic field .....i dunno.... |

| Well, our current electricity technology does not have the output to generate anything close to a shield plus we are not yet developed in the laser technology. But once we do, the shield is kinda like a matrix of energy (kinda like what a hologram is). But if repeated strikes keeps getting one area of the shield, the matrix in that area would start breaking up until that area has no shield. If you have watched Star Wars or similar things, you would have they say something like "shields failing ... we have lost shield on the aft and starboard..." |

I think that a "deflector type" shield, that is, a shield that acts as a solid object to block attacks, is probably not possible. How do you make energy act like a solid? But, I think that a "reflector type" shield is more feasible. I think that it will be possible to repulsion field that will not act like a "shield" but more of an repeller, flinging away stuff that comes too close to it. We can manipulate magnetic fields to move around metals, even with our current level of technology.  |

i think (this is only an assumption...^_^) 2 make an energy to become solid we must "pack" the energy as tight as possible, like ...lets say CO2 when we make it really dense and tight then freeze it really cold we can get a dry ice, maybe it sort of works like that. But we need to make the energy veryyy biiiggg. i dunno...^_^but i really hope that we can make energy shields...its so coollll!!! hehehe |

If you "pack" the energy, you might succeed in frying anything that passed through it into a crisp (which would be fun), but I don't see how it would become solid. I don't really know anything about the science that would be required to do this, though, so I really have no real clue about an energy field's feasibility or lack thereof. My posts in this thread are mostly bull$#!&. However, I bet that's also true for the rest of us. C'mon guys, admit, we have no idea what we're talking about when it comes to hyper-science like this! |

ok..you're right about the " i dunno anything about what im talking about" ...hehehe its true.. And can it really fry things that come through cause that would be cool n maybe instead of energy sheild, geniuses can make people who can emmit heat (or somethin like that)...hehehe 2 imaginative perhaps....^_^ |

i would imagine that the lightsabre thread is what you should be looking at for ideas of an energy shield. and, oldcrow, bullshitting is the best brainstorming because that way you eliminate the worst ideas first, the ones that sound cool but never work. true some knowledge is needed but connections are still made and ideas are formed |

I've already made an energy shield, protecting my apartment from any damage when the end of the world comes, if anyone needs a good shelter from nuclear fallout, just ring me up.

Lightsaber, energy shield, etc. we just need to figure out how to control plasma, or the next phase of matter after that. There has to be another phase after plasma, it just hasn't been discovered yet. What sould I call it....... help me out here.

which plasm u talking about ?? the state of matter or wat .. as the fouth state of matter plasm is an ionised gas.. due to impact between particles of the gas.. this impact is so strong that the electrons of the particles are knocked out(strong impact due to high speed such particles are moving at)

Plasma (the phase of matter) has incedibly high energy, so if it could be concentrated into a sustained beam or shield it would be able to stop whatever it hurled at it.

so i was thinking of the correct plasm then... however i think before we think of how to concentrate it ..we should think of how to substain it for a long time in a safe enviroment... Any ideas anyone ?? i only know how to create it using a microwave oven

why would plasma being high energy stop objects moving towards it? if the internal kinetic energy (HEAT!) is high, it can still be acted on by external forces. i dont follow the logic here at all...
