Any Football(Soccer) fans!!!!!??????
Link | by Funsch on 2005-08-06 03:03:25 (edited 2005-08-06 03:04:31)
Yeah might as well post this since I'm pretty obsessed with Football(Soccer).

-So what is/are your favourate team/s?
Mine's Arsenal in England. I like there style of play, making a string of passes to form a quick attack.

-Who are your favourate player/s?
Mine would be Dennis Bergkamp of Arsenal. Despite his age (around 36 I think.....) he still can play pretty good and is good at creating chances for other players with his killer passes.

Robert Pires of Arsenal is another of my favourate. He's good at Free Kicks and is always their to hit the ball to the back of the net when no one else is their.

Steven Gerrard of Liverpool, yeah I really admired him last season, I like his long shots they look so spectacular and move at the speed of a rocket. His passing is also pretty good and he can also create chances for the team.

Christiano Ronaldo of Man Utd, yeah despite being a MAN UTD player and a Sisi of a player (always falls down from a light challenge) I like his mad dribbling skills and fast pace. I've never seen any player like him before. His dribbling skills are so unpredictable and he can easily get pass players. His also good at long shots and free kicks.

-What's your favourate League/s?
Mine of course would have to be the English Premier League, very interesting to watch since it's pretty hectic and fast pace.

-What else do you like about Football(Soccer)?
Well I like it since it's unpredictable and very spectacular to watch. I especially like watching Free Kicks, Long shots and creative passes!!!!!

Well, I wanna know if there are any fans of Football(Soccer) in this forum?

i'm one of soccer fans too.

i support inter. i like them, but their achievement is not too good.
i hope mancini can bring them victories this season.

fav player. i used to like roberto carlos. He's lefty, and his shoot is very strong.

fav league. premiership, perhaps. it's good to see people running around for 90 minutes+ nonstop. hehehe. It's not like serie A, where the players just walk most of the time.

but i'm not a diehard fan of soccer though. i just like it, and that is all.

God's in his heaven. All's right with the world.

Yeah I heard Inter brought in 3 former Real Madrid players from Spain: Walter Samuel, Solari (Uh forgot his first name) and Figo. I think if they can stop getting draws in matches a lot like they did last season and somehow beat AC Milan this season they can probably have a good chance of winning the title and more.

Inter did well in buying Figo, he was one of the best players in Real Madrid in the last 2 seasons, one of the few that did play well.

it's the mentality that matters.
i know inter buys a lot of star players.
but somehow, i'm pretty concerned about "regeneration".
inter doesn't have any shining new soul delivered fresh from its soccer school, and i'm afraid of that fact.
and inter doesn't have any good local italian player, except toldo, materazzi, vieri (used to).

ahhh, i hope they realize their mistakes.

I'm not sure what you mean by mentality andreyev, are you talking about the players?

But anyways I agree with ya. Inter seem to always have a huge influx of foreign players and they haven't even got any "good" players straight from there youth academy. I also think this influx of foreign players is what's lowering the chances of the youth players to prove themselves at senior level.

I think the only thing they have to worry about is not go into financial debt, otherwise they'll have to offload all of there good players due to there high wages and have no real talented youth players to replace them.

i mean the players' abilities is not the only factor that decides who's winning or losing.
look at real madrid, all of their player are stars, but last season, they got no titles at all (if i'm not mistaken).
look at mu, especially when they faced munchen in champion's league final (forgot the year). in the last minutes they scored 2 goals, and they won 2-1.
the mentality of the team, the teamwork, are also important too, i think.

regeneration is very important, i think.

Yeah, that's true about the team's mentality, self belief and high work rate. That's why there's lots of smaller or unknown clubs like PSV & Lyon that make it to the knock-out rounds of the Champions League these days.

And Liverpool they won the Champions League last season even when they were down 3-0 at half time because they had self belief and the fan support helped motivate them to continue on.

I also think that the team management is important. Look at Arsenal, they've finished in the top 2 every season in the EPL so far, ever since Arsene Wenger took over as manager. Everton managed to finish fourth last season in the EPL and they don't have any world class players.

Yeah, regeneration of a team is important as well. Arsenal are doing that right now, fielding in youngsters like Cesc Fabregas, Jose Reyes, Mathieu Flamini, Justin Hoyte, Robin Van Piersie on a regular basis.

Woohoo the EPL starts in around 2-3 days!!!!! Too bad they don't have it free to air anymore :( Oh! Well can always check out the highlights the day after.

Chelsea are starting with a disadvantage with the lost of 3 points in the league already from the controversey for trying to approach Arsenal Left-Back Ashley Cole illegally >_<.

They also struggled in the match against newly promoted Wigan and could have conceded a few goals from them. I think defensively they might struggle this season and it'll be hard to keep up the consistency and form they had last season.

Im an Aston Villa fan! Yeah i know...dont start...:-)

I forsee yet another struggling season for us ahead. Weve bought in Kevin Phillips, Patrik Berger, Aaron Hughes and Stuart Taylor in the summer. We need better quality if we even think we can stand a chnace against Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd. Hell even Tottenham have a quality sqaud now and look dnagerous.

Couldnt beleive the England match last night. However hopefully this will burrow into the minds of England fns that we arent the great team we think we are, and the days of steam rolling over teams has passed. Yes wehave some quality individuals, but playing together as a team? Doesnt seem to work.

aston villa used to be a good team. It's unfortunate that they are on poor performance now.
but as everyone in my country says, the ball is round. Perhaps we are on the bottom now, but there will be time when we are on top.
don't worry Blitz, i will not mock you.

Lol! Yeah I've seen some South American commentary on matches during the Copa Liberdetores (sry if I spelt it wrong, South American & Mexican version of the Champions League). And yeah I hear the commentators yell out GOALLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Man they must have to drink lots of water every so often if they're commentating on high scoring matches :P.

Anyways, does anyone know why they scream out GOALLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!! when a goal is scored? I'm a bit curious on that.

"Anyways, does anyone know why they scream out GOALLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!! when a goal is scored? I'm a bit curious on that."
Maybe because goals are exciting?! And also because commentators should give an impression of the excitement of Football in their broadcast, afterall Football (soccer) is the king of sports ^^

Oh and its Copa Libertadores :)

Thanks for that Shiriu! And for the spelling correction :P
It gives me goosebumps when the commentators scream out GOALLLLL!!!!!!!!!!
But then again spectacular stuff like Free Kicks, long shots and acrobatic goals also gets me excited (no, not in that way :( and also gives me goosebumps. I just like watching those kind of goals scored!!!!! :)

They show late night, early mornings South American football on channel five here in the Uk...Even when its a tap in they shout GOOOOOAAAALLLLLL!!! for about five minutes..:-P

Lol! That's funny, what about own goals then? :P

But during penalty kicks to decide the match they only shout GOALLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!! for a few seconds though. I'd really thought they'll shout for a long time for each goal!

Re: Any Football(Soccer) fans!!!!!??????
Link | by andreyev on 2005-08-20 08:27:24
haha, if they shout Goooooaaaaaaalllll !!!!!!!!!!!!! for a long time, there will be another goal scored while they're shouting, though ....

Im pretty sure thats probably happened andreyev..:-)

Bah....Villa didnt even LOOK like having an attack against Man Utd today. It was an early kick off and Van Nistelrooy scored in the 66th minute. Damnit!

Theres only a week or so of the transfer window left. we need better players..and fast!

Woohoo Arsenal vs Chelsea in a few hours. Too bad it's not free to air on TV :(. Anyways I hope Arsenal get a point at least from this game and even if they did lose they'll still be tied in points with Chelsea. GO ARSENAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
