Is it wrong for guys to be into romantic stuff?

Just wondering that's all. I've been into romantic animes every since I watch Onegai Teacher back early in this year. Every since then I've watched romantic animes like Ai Yori Aoshi, Oh! My Goddess, and His and her Circumstance. So do you think it's wrong for a guy to do this and think about romantic stuff sometimes?  |

why not? i do not see anything wrong about it. besides, nobody can tell you what you should or should not like. i do not remember that it was a crime for guys to watch romantic anime

Most of these romantic animes are made for guys. Above all else I watch these types of anime. Ai Yori Aoshi, Love Hina, Ah! My Goddess, etc's main target is men. It makes you manly to watch these. If you like an anime, dont feel bad about watching it just because others say you shouldnt. I am curently watching Princess Tutu. The fact that I can say I watch this openly means I have no doubt in my mind that im a man. In fact i consider my self cool to not follow others opinions and create and follow only my own. I agree with jomunga, there's nothing wrong with a guy liking romantic anime. I myself am a big fan of Escaflowne, Rizelmine, Tenchi Muyo! (does that even count? who's NOT a fan), and yes, I'll admit it, even Fruits Basket (the manga version not the godawful anime version).  |

| There's nothing wrong with a guy liking romantic animes or romance in general. I do enjoy watching a bit of Romance in animes, I really like Oh! My Goddess, and I don't mind romance in other types of anime, as long as it doesn't ruin the anime itself. |

| I dont think there's anything wrong either. i think the plot is more complicated in these type of anime and manga. Coz the shounen kinda anime is all fighting like DBZ or in Naruto. I really like Ai Yori Aoshi (plus Enishi), Love Hina (the manga was longer and better), Kimi ga nozomu eien, Onegai Teacher, Onegai Twins, Marmalade Boy (manga), Psychic Academy (manga), Perfect Girl Evolution (manga). Dont know why but a few people i know actually feel that if a guy like to watch these type of anime or read this type of manga then they are girly or even *cough**cough*. Anyway, I dont see anything wrong wif it. |

Yeah, Seki's right, even when the anime is not a "romance" anime, I still like there to be some sort of romantic angle to it, like Yusuke and Keiko in YuYu Hakusho, which would otherwise just be a series of fights (and therefore excruciatingly boring). Stories without that are pretty boring actually. |

| If it were wrong, then they would label who can watch and who can't right? But everyone has their own different views. What I mean by that is, even it's good to have someone who can have the same thoughts about something even if what that person is isn't the same as the other. |

| Oldcrow, Stories without romance can be good, in fact, Evangelion (my favorite anime) doesn't have any romance :\ |

Yes it does, Shinji and Asuka. I'll grant that it doesn't have much...but they do end up together in the end (since everyone else is dead). Anyway, I didn't say that they can't be good, just that they tend to be boring. More specifically, they feel somewhat sterile (to me anyway). |

| I don't think Shinji and Asuka have a real romance, just some attraction to each other, that's the way I see it, just a matter of personal view |

| I don't think there's anything wrong with it; I'm currently reading Full Moon, and also just picked up Volume 6 of Boys Be, as well as Vol. 2 of I's. One of my favorite Manga was AI Love You, by the creator of Love Hina :) I loved Ah My Goddess, as well, and many titles like it; There's nothing wrong with a romance anime or manga; It's the romance story that draws you in, and if anything, proves you have a sensitive side; |

hehe, every anime(minus a few) has some romance in it. it just wouldnt be a story without it. But on to the question, let this answer it Romantic Animes i watched and loved Onegai Sensei Inuyasha Love Hina Ranma Nibun No Ichi DearS Chobits Sailor Moon Ive also read some Boys BE and A.I. Love You I'm a guy too, even though I don't have a girlfriend and am particularly malicious on valentines day, a good romantic comedy ever now and then is always a good thing btw I believe that Shinji allowed everyone to live and ended up in a purgatory like state with Asuka next to him.

I agree wif oldcrow, anime without some sort of romantic plot to it can be boring. The anime would be good at first but soon all the fighting will soon lose its novelty coz there aint no real plot or things for you to think about or to anticipate. Eg. Dragonball Series would be one of them, I dont think there is any romance in it at all, the only thing about DBZ was its comedy and fighting. It was good, i grant that, one of my early favourites too, but it's not the type you want to watch again and again. I know coz after I watched Onegai Twins I couldnt stop watching it again and again all in a row, kinda crazy but I loved the romantic plot (plus KOTOKO's songs there were great). But it's also good to have fight scenes too i guess, if it doesnt I might get bored as well, especially if the plot aint so captivating. Gundam Seed and Destiny is good coz there's like romance but lots of fighting too (I get really into it when crappy characters like Djilbril are doin their stupid things and I would be like yelling at the screen calling him names and cheers when a character like that get beaten up or vaporised). Anyways I'm gettin off track. |

there's nothing better than a romantic guy!!! and, unless it's cheesy, romantic anime is fine. of course, i am a girl. hehe. and yeah, onegai twins was a good anime, not bad... i think the best animes are a mix of many genres: action, comedy, romance, etc..... because sometimes things can get repetitive when it simply follows one catagory.
nya........... hehe.

I think I need to watch Onegai Twins. Everybody says it's great but I never got aroung to watching it, because I didn't want to shell out the money to buy it... And yes, nejigirl and Seki are right, the best animes are mixes of many genres. Romance, though, is a genre that you really can't leave out... |

look, i'm a gal & also think that anime without romantic bits is boring (we're ordinary human being after all)! heh, but as a devilish big sis, i alwiz bullied my lil bro if there were any romantic scenes, sayin "hey, what's that perverse eyes lookin at? the lips or the girl?". he pissed-off & vowed never watch that kind of anime, instead turn to action-packed anime ONLY. yeah, such a party-pooper I am, i even think guys shouldn't cry at all. why? i hadn't cried yet this year & only my mom can get me cryin(urgh, her nags..!)  |
