american cartoons under anime influence?!? WHAT???
|
yeah, i've noticed that there are a lot of american cartoons out there that use elements of anime, like chibis, the little sweat drops and veins when aggravated, and other things that are just overall similar... also the drawing style in general... there are titles like Teen Titans, Totally Spies, things like that... help!!! are those considered anime?!? and if they're not, then why? it's very confusing to me, although i think they're probably not considered anime... is this simply another mark of japanese cultural influence, or something else?
nya........... hehe.

i only consider anime the ones that came from Japan, those american, french copy i consider cartoon |
Re: american cartoons under anime influence?!? WHAT???

Japan's anime will forever be more superior compared to those copies the Americans can produced. The style will never be e same. it is indeed unique to the Japanese and only them alone. i agree with Balfor, n consider those copies as cartoons. Anime is a much higher level of animation compared to their american counterparts. Rock on anime...

American productions aren't considered as anime, because that's what they aren't -anime. There's a big Japanese influence in todays american drawings that it really is easily confusing to differentiate between the two. But one thing for sure, anime kicks ass Lol. Teen Titans is an anime. Its a japanese production -just to let you know. |

Eto...one more, can't remember the name of that cartoon? I think it's the same cartoon production company as Totally Spice. I like the girl from that cartoon. She's so cute!! Ara, still can't remember the title...something "Mystery? Mysterious? Adventure?" But still have a little of Japanese anime blend, especially the comical facade. Well done~ Ja mata ne, mi-chan

Stick with american animated TV shows in the same vein as Batman. Don't gravitate towards "ameri-anime" until they start getting good.

I don't think that the location where they're made has to do with being anime or not. I consider a show an anime if it was drawn anime style, whether it was made in the U.S. or Japan. What about the Korean animes?! are those considered anime or not? People say it is anime, but they're not made in Japan :O If Naruto or Chobits were made in the U.S, would you think of them as cartoons?! Anyway, Japanese anime will always be much better than Non-japanese. That's just my opinion, but don't mind me, I always enjoy to be the one with the contrary opinion ;P |

Shiriu, the main problem people have with "ameri-anime" is not the locale, but the way it is done. I'm sorry to say, but they suck currently. None of the current ameri-anime are in any way good at least in my opinion. Japanese anime is completely owning and it makes sense. After all, they originated it despite Tezuka being influenced by Disney. Until ameri-anime gets better, stick with Japanese anime and american comic superhero cartoons.

Yeah, I know most of the ameri-animes completely suck, but that doesn't change the fact that they are still animes...atleast that's what I think. |

I don't know any shows that are based on a certain anime but i do know shows that copy the anime styles of drawing, for example Totally Spies and Avatar. I don't watch them but I babysit my neice who watches them whenever i come over.

If you can remember the style of american animations (like Siverhawks,Thundercats,G.I.Joe,BraveStarr,Ghostbusters) they were clearly... shall we say... "weak" compared to the animation styles of anime in those years... and because the "anime"-style is clearly known and well... "better" in today's animation... they tend to go with the flow and compete in the same methods as "anime" is... Sorry bout that... i've been watching anime & cartoons for 18 years... since my dad gave me my first doreimon show... lol... Kneel Before the Great and Benevolent Cow! |
Re: american cartoons under anime influence?!? WHAT???

What really pisses me off is that they copy everything but then they do a halfassed job in the voices (then again same thing with dubs in anime), the quality is still not as good as most anime series, and they forget the most important thing... A PLOT. American cartoons dont even have a plot or even a episode sequence (there are exeptions). I dont really consider anything made in the US or France anime even though it might look like it, because for me for it to be anime it has to be made not exactly in japan, but the creator should be japanese (thats my way of looking at it). Also, to answer the Naruto question. No, i wouldnt consider it anime. Hell, if i made an anime-like show and it would become the next popular thing (like Naruto or Bleach), i personally wouldnt consider it anime, just an american cartoon drawn in the anime style.

I think the difference between anime and cartoons is like someone said earlier: the plot, and plus the drawing style and the OST and songs. There aint any proper OST for any cartoons and the drawing style sucks. Granted that the frame rate is higher than any in anime but that's what I like about anime. I just dont like the realism that disney animation is into. And in every cartoon, there aint no spill over of events from one ep to another. Each one always wrap up nicely in the end. I think anime is more like Asian soap dramas, each ep dont finish its plot but extends it, making the viewer wanna keep watching. Anime is just the animated version of the asian soap drama style. I say 'soap drama' cos parts of it resemble the typical soap operas while some parts are like dramas. |
Re: american cartoons under anime influence?!? WHAT???

that's true, seki. there are a lot of similarities between animes and soap operas... i just never really though about it. and Gmm, you little picture thing scares me.... *bwah*
