Whoaaa... the grown Browsers still fight !... I just test both these browsers... and a result is 65% VS 35% win by Firefox (by me of course) Opera had small installation, good compatibility with IE designate website and no plugin need (almost ^^) and this browser are fast !... The feature are good too... like E-Mail client and chat.... Beside any good things of opera browser... firefox had a most powerfull features, first its Open Source... advanced configuration is allowed and its free ^^ of course its fast too... For me... using opera just for simple and Just IE compatible website... and I use Firfox if i want to open a web with newest technology like Gendou and many others.... how about your experience about the this two Most Popolar browsers. |

Opera is all of those things except open source. It's secure, much faster than Firefox. Feateures such as displaying pictures can be turned on and off from the tool bar. So can cookies whe we refuse from moost wesites. We also use Firefox for the same reasons as opera. tyeh only m,ajor difference is the freeware version has banners ads in the upper rigt hand corner. It's not adware since the advertising is hard coded into Opera nad comes crom there own servere. Irrespective of which one you uses both are better than MSIE which Rangers says is a majore secuity hole in anybodoys syste. The only time MSIE is used is when we have to go to a website that uses Active-X. |

I had a little trouble figuring out how to import all my bookmarks from Firefox to Opera, but now that I've managed to do it, I'm glad I took the trouble. Opera has all the features of Firefox, including skins, tabbed browsing (woot), and good security, plus it's a LOT faster. Opera is not open source, but it's free: if you don't want to pay for it then it will just display small, easily ignored banner ads. And I don't even have that, since I managed to find a free registration code! The Opera guys were giving them out for free for Opera's 10th anniversary. Woot! Go the me. Note that I did not mention Internet Explorer. It is not worthy of mention. |

Firefox wins for one real reason, the sheer amount of plugins and extensions that you can download that really customise firefox to behave exactly as you want it. This is becasue its open source therfore people can create the plugins themselves so that we all are not sitting around waiting for mozilla team to make them. Spend a little time with firefox, and it will be worth it.

Question:What's lag? Mind my voacbulary. Update: I've used firefox for like less than 1hr. and the only thing I like about it(compared to Opera) is that it doesn't have ads but, it doesn't have lotz of other things either. It's kinda like Netscape for me. Analogy: Internet Explorer is to Netscape: Opera is to FireFox In 4 words: I like Opera better. m y . L i F E . i . t r a d e . i n . f o r . y o u r . P A i N . |
Re: Firefox VS Opera

Well the new netscape package IS the Mozilla engine. I go with Firefox. I was a very early user of Firefox, and also, I have had problems with lag on Opera. Opera takes too much time scripting actions and displaying the information on a page. It isn't 'intelligent' enough, which means that it lags behind whilst you are still browsing the internet. This causes more script to be left behind for processing rather than being skipped over, and takes up more processing power. It is by no means as slow as the problems with scripting that Zone Labs' ZoneAlarm (permit me to use a different type of program as an example), but it is enough to force me to stick with Firefox. Also, on a time:updates ratio basis, Firefox is more reliable. I find Firefox more user-friendly to the inexperienced person, and more customiseable for the web-designer. I have a major problem with the use of advertising within programs, it is simply a pet-hate. But with less than 1% of the browser market, I think it's a bit late for Opera to suddenly decide that people shouldn't have to pay for their product. The only thing I do not like is that Firefox has always been a little slower at displaying image files. UncleChan |

Opera had a lot of problems with some sites, sometimes rendering the browser unable to open the website... and has horrible Lag. Mozilla is faster, but there was a security loophole that made it suceptible to... something. I forgot. I think they have remedied it though. I use Advanced Browser, coz its pretty much based on the MSIE engine, but with addons like for blocking Flash animations, and the multiple window capability... oh, and the pop-up blocker without requiring the SP2.

A little tip for firefox users, while your windows is shutting down, and it's closing the program (because for some STUPID reason YOU didn't), don't press the reset button, and don't cancel the shutting down of the program, because you lose all your bookmarks... sucks to be me, I had 800 sites book marked... I needed to make folders of folders of folders to properly organise my book marks... I learned the hard wya indeed. I'll eat you. |
Re: Firefox VS Opera

Heres a tip on saving yor bookmarks, export yor bookmarks somewhere or save it in a disket. Just go to bookmarks and press manage bookmarks then click file and export to where ever u want. If for some reason u lost yor bookmarks u can import it from where ever u save the previous one. U can do this to transfer yor bookmarks to other internet browsers like netscape but u cant do the samething on IE. IE sucks anyway. I hope u can understand the tips i ve writen here. ^_^ |
