Hehe...

I just want to ask what my name, "Rui" means in Japanese. I have searched the net about it. I got trouble and affection. But I'd like to know which is the one.

Thanks! ^_^

The name meaning depends on how it is spelled, especially helpful if you already know how it is spelled, Katakana or in Kanji. There are several different meanings even for "Rui" too, so...perhaps you could show a link to the actual written way for your name? Is it a Japanese name (I just need to clarify), I'd be glad to see what I can find.

I don't know how it is written in Kanji or in Katakana. I'm sorry. I'm actually searching the web on how Rui is written in Kanji and Katakana...
Actually, Rui is French in origin, I think, but it is also a Japanese name that can either be male or female.

Oh, I think this is a link:

Actually, I just clicked "Ru" and then "i" to spell my name. I'm sorry. I don't really know how to read and write Japanese. ^_^

Usually American words used in Japan are written in Katakana form, so your name, because it isn't really Japanese, would be written in Katakana and would carry the meaning of the language it derived from.

Just for the purpose of saying that your name is in Japanese, the results that I came up with include two Kanji characters of "Ru" and then "I" or just one Kanji character, "Rui". Of course I am sure that if you decided to combine "Ru" and "I", then the meaning will slightly change to make more sense of the new Kanji.

There were 2 Kanji "Ru" that I found:
1. RYU, RU; naga(re), stream, current, flow; naga(su), to wash away, to set afloat.
2. RYU, RU: to(meru), to fasten, to stop

There were a lot of "I" Kanji:
1. I; mind, heart, attention, care
2. I; kako(mu), to surround
3. I; kurai, rank, position, grade
4. I; to heal, to cure
5. I; to entrust with
6. I; utsu(ru), to more, to change, to be infectious
7. I; koto(naru), to be different, to be unusual

For the results of the Kanji with "Rui", there were:
1. Rui; a kind, a variety
2. Rui; namida, tear (from the eyes)
3. Rui; trouble, involvement (to be acquainted with)
4. Rui; base (in baseball), fort

I am not sure if you decided to combine two of the Kanji's (Ru and I) together to make your name and come up with a whole new meaning...you'd have to ask a like a Japanese teacher (at a highschool/college/Japanese school) to find out...Hopefully this was a bit of a help to you.

Thank you for helping me Toujiro! ^_^

I'll try asking the Japanese teachers in school about this. Thanks again!
