About Paypal...

I have a problem with my computer. Whenever I try to access paypal.com regardless of the site I'm accessing through, it won't display it. I have no inconvenients on any other computer but the one in my home. It won't even display the paypal icons! Do I need a certain program to access that website or something?

most likely your browser does not support HTTPS connections. those are made over a secure socket layer that may be illegal in your country (Puerto Rico). hope this information is helpful. |

I can access paypal.com through almost any other computer in Puerto Rico.

Could be Paypal just blocks your country... I found this list on their site, it's called the PayPal's Permitted Countries list. And Puerto Rico is not one of them... So it could be they block connections with the Puerto Rico extension (don't know what it is) for their secure HTTPS sites.

That could be because sometimes Puerto Rico is listed under the USA category (although it shouldn't be). And, as I mentioned before, I can access Paypal through any other computer in Puerto Rico. The problem lies in my computer. But, thanks for the info! ^_^

Puerto Rico is a United Stages "territory" if I do recall (a euphemism for "colony" or "bitch") so USA jurisprudence would most likely apply there (so browsers with encryption would be ok). Also as far as browsers go if you are on a PC I would highly recommend Mozilla Firefox cos it isn't the suck like Internet Explorer. Or if on Mac, Safari. OR OmniWeb if you want to be a weirdo like Gendou. =P ♥♥♥Shinji |

Unfortunately, choosing a browser isn't up to me. The computer belongs to my family, not to me specifically. Also, I've gotten pretty used to Internet Explorer and it would be selfish to make my family adjust to a new browser just because I prefer it. -_- Thanks for the suggestion, anyway! ^_^ Regarding the Puerto Rico issue, yes, it's considered a US territory. However, it's status is defined as "libre-asociado". In other words, since we're not officially a state, we are free to do whatever we want with our government (well, almost), but we can't make decisions concerning any type of accord with another country without their consent. We also make use of their mail system, their airlines, and many other services. You may see us either listed as a US state, or as an individual country. Yeah, that History of Puerto Rico class I took last year in seventh grade came in handy! ^_^
