I don't know much but it came out summer 2005.
Ed's trying to return to the other world via science.
Al's sticking with alchemy. They find some rumour that might help them get into the other world... I think it's called Shambara? (like in the series with the philosopher's stone). It also takes place between world war 1 and world war 2 (Ed's time)... so I guess expect politics?
If you're looking to download it; I don't think that anyone subbed it in English yet (or any other language), seeing that it's so new. You can get a raw version at mininova.
I hope I helped!

I saw a CAM subbed version, the quality was very bad but the movie was ok. it wasn't as great as i expected but i liked the ending so yea.
and Al is not imitating Ed, he 4got all his memory and he just kno his brother still exist somewhere and looking for him, but somehow he got the hair and clothes same as Ed -_- wat a coincidence haha

I too watched the cam version. The movie wasn't all that hyped up to be, but still a pretty good movie nevertheless. It does tie up some loose ends left over from the anime though.

I haven't seen it yet but I’ll probably wait until I've finished watching the series first anyway.

It was too much about the main character. There're too many characters in the series for the movie to be about only one or two. Sure, the others made an appearance...but not enough of one. The ending, I thought, was sad. But

*SPOILER ABOUT ENDING*

At least Ed and Al were together in the same world, even if it was the "real" world and they couldn't use alchemy, so that was good. And Ed got his automail back (as opposed to the prosthetic limbs they have in our world). And Al had his body. So there were some good things...

*END SPOILER*

Yeah, the manga is better. Much, much better. They changed it so much cuz they couldn't pack Arakawa-sensei's whole plot into a 50-something episode anime series, so they just scrapped it and wrote a new plot.

Yep, Seen it!
It was pretty good. Went off in a different direction than I expected it to go.
Now I just have the see the rest of FMA TV so I can peice the two together. Hopefully, it will answer a few questions I have between the movie and the TV show.

No matter where you go, there you are...

Wait a minute, I thought the manga was following the anime almost to the letter. At least, thats what I read someplace else.
And how did you find the ending sad, allbeit, their in our world, looking for a nuke in germany before WW2. Their together at least and both whole, for the most part.

No matter where you go, there you are...

No, it the anime really doesn't follow the manga that closely. Just read the manga and you'll see. Even the definition of "homunculi" varies from the anime to the manga. Also, the homunculi themselves are different; Sloth, Wrath and Pride are different altogether, to be precise. And that's officially all I can say w/o spoilers.

*Spoilers ahead...but I assume you've all watched the movie or don't care*

How did I find the movie sad? I dunno...I guess when I think about it the end wasn't too terribly sad, but there had been quite a bit of death, and Ed and Al would never see all their friends again, AND they couldn't use alchemy which SUCKS.

What I personally found sad was that Roy was no longer a colonel, and that he had been refusing to use his flames. I dunno if he would have stopped after the battle or not, cuz it didn't tell you.

The other thing that made me sad was that Roy didn't marry Liza, but that's just me. ^-^
