Can we change future if we go back in past???

From many things we'v seen on tv, movies, video games etc... In what do you believe most.

#1- If you are somehow able to go back in time, you could change the future depending on your action.

Exemple: In "StarGate Atlantis" there is that episode where Dr. Elizabeth Weir sees her self from the past who has been kept alive thx to cryogenic technologie. And then tells her than when they first went to Atlantis, the city didnt rise above the see but remain under it and everything colapsed when they arrived. Then she got sent back in time where the time machine that sent her there wasnt built because she was sent back in time and then cryogenised to keep the same thing from happening in the future wich worked and she changed the future.

#2- You cannot change the future and all that you do in the past to change it just bring you back to the present we now know meaning that parallel universe leading to every decision one may take during their life would be wrong.

Exemple: In Futurama Fry goes back in time to the Rosewell crash (they are the one who crashed :P ) And fry tries to keep his grandfather (who is still young at that time) from diying to make sure he is born in the future but his grand father eventually dies and he is still alive, further more he makes love to his grandmother and he becomes his own grandfather haha. All that so say he is back to the begining and he can't change a thing about it.

Personally i really like that line from Prince of Persia : Warrior Within "You cannot change your fate... No man can"

No it´s impossible....only if our acts in past don´t affect our presence and we haven´t traveled to past to change something on purpose...in that case it would never happen and we wouldn´t have to change it in presence, because it wouldn´t exist and we wouldn´t travel anywhere...
So if you want to change something in the past, it must be something that won´t affect your existence and behavior itself...so it´s practically useless ^_^bye

All particles run at different "levels".
No 2 particles share the same "level"

Therefore, if you went into the past, your
past self and your present self could not coexist.
Thus making you implode and blink out of existance.

>>>>I'm just kidding. That is a load of BS.
I just didn't feel like typing out how the universe works

There is a well known time travel paradox.

Today you are a person married and who has a family. You go back in time and meet your ancestor, usually your father or grandfather and kill them. What happens now? If you changed the past you wouldn't exist in the present to be able able to go into the past to do the deed. Neither would your children exist.

There two other ways of time travel too. Besides "Back to the future" & other such movies & stories...

There was a story I had to read my junior year. Forgot what it was called. But it was about this guy who wanted to hunt dinos & so he went to this place where they go back in time to kill them. The trick is they kill them a minute before they actually die from natural death. & remove the bults. They are also on floating sidewalk things & told to touch nothing. Before they went on the trip they were talking about an election & how very high insurance was b/c of missing w/ time. The guy ended up chickening out during the hunt & running of the side walk thing. He kill a butterfly, so back to the present it looked the same. & oh every one else was dead b/c of him too. Well back to the story; the election was different the other guy won & the owner's friend like that guy when he didn't before the death of the butterfly. If I remember right the owner killed that baka. So thats another way of thinking of tima travel.

The other I like better. It's the idea form "12 Monkeys" that movie is PIONTLESS the theme is that the past can't change. What ever you do in the past is what you are ment to do. They went to the past to find acure for a virus that was released. & once you think there past can be changed you find out it isn't...*SPIOLER ALERT* the guy who went in the past think he could change it found out in the end that as a boy the guy he saw shoot & kill in the airport was him. he saw his on death. & I hate that movie now.

Never date a guy stranger than you. If so, make sure he's loaded.

I remember that story. Originally written by Issac Asimov I think

ya, the guy and his friends went into the past to hunt dinos and he did panic step off the path the other guy killed a dine and he killed a butterfly. When they returned the world was completely different. there was a twilight zone of that too.

I don't know if killing a butterfly 80 million years ago would have an effect on the future. Considering the dinos were wiped out 65 mil years ago what affect could it have today. Pretty thin. Better is going to the recent past. STrek did one bout mc coy going through a time portal into the past and the present was all of a sudden different. Kirk and co were not affected since they were next to the portal. So kirk and spock go back to where mc coy is,the 1920s, to set history straight and meet up with a cutey honey who he gets to lay before finding out she was the focal point for the time disruption and he has to let her get run over by a car. thump thump.

I like the Temporal Causality loop in TNG

Dont forget Kirk always gets the blonde in the red dress driving a convertible on the planet Schwartz

did you know if you tried to have a discussion like this with your friends in the 1960s they would have thought you crazy?

1st off it's impossible to go to the past of OUR reality U can only go to the future through some logical means let me just fill u in y not

diffrent dimensions and/or universes have diffrent speeds depending at the rate of thier creation

taking this into affect then we can go into a niegboring dimension and wait there unaffected by time (since we dont belong to thier time then we wont be affected by thier time or any influences there) untill we decide to go back and BAM your in the future!

if u wait in that void for let's say 1,000,000,000 years (which might be the time our universe implodes because of strange reason) then you are going to be stuck in non existance forever unless a universe is reborn and goes in a cycle then i guess that makes u go into the past...

of course there is the chance that you go into a blackhole and in the singularity (center of a blackhole) there is a rip in reality where u can travel through time...

other than those 2 theories that i have...then i have no knoledge and base things off of movies

The only logical way to go back in time
is to spin the Earth backwards like superman did.

I heard about a theory that was REALLY complicated, so I don't remember it all... But it was based on this stuff about how if you go into a time machine, you can't go back before the time machine was made, for some hundred or two reasons... So that would at least make you unable to go back to dinosaur time, if this theory is correct.

[Fate Theory]: Time travels continuosly, and the past is written like the pages of a book, going back to the past will not allow you to change the future, because what you do to change the past will already have affected the future. Anything that hasn't happened already in the past won't happen because you went back and tried to make it happen. For Example: You try to assasinate the Duke of Windsor, unless he was actually assasinated by you, your attempts would fail, and probably even go unnoticed.

I'll eat you.

Wow this one is getting in the realm of quantum therory, have you guys ever heard of the "Grandfather Paradox" it is some super deep real world therory's that are analizing the practical side of the "what if" they even talk about it in some colleges,as well as other paradox's.So in therory well...........who knows, its some deep really cool stuff even Einstein mentioned it in his notes near the time of his death. Now lets get somthing strait,I am a huge sci-fi addect, but the things I just mentioned are not from T.V. at all they are sound principles and cannot be disproved but cannot be proven either thats why they are a paradox. But I do agree that temperal causeallity is very interresting, and also remember that time is truely relitive,I see people talking about dinosaurs and billions of years but what does that mean anyway, the universe itself is the greatest paradox of all,its endless and in saying that we can say its timeless, and in the asumption that it is timeless it has been expanding and contracting in to a point singularity for an infinite pierod of so called "time"its all realitive when you get right down to it....Sorry to bore you all with my babbleings and my abundunte grammer errors..
