FFVII on Ps3???
Link | by Kaimira on 2005-10-10 17:08:22 (edited 2005-10-10 18:06:40)
Hello! I've been searching the net for weeks looking for info on the Ps3 Technical Demo for FFVII... I almost cried when I found out that Square-Enix wasn't really making the game, it was just showing us these awesome graphics... I believed for a while that they were really going to re-make the game, and I was so excited and now I read where they aren't.

"SquareEnix says that they lied to us when they said that FF VII was not being made for the PS3. Thats right, FF VII is coming to the PS3 with a new shiny coat of visuals but with the same story that grabbed hold of us all. Details of the release of the game have yet to be announced." (Info from Anime-source.com)

I still don't really know if they are making it or not though, I keep seeing things that say they will, and then I hear that they aren't so if anyone has any information/opinions on it, or want to talk about it, please post it here! =) Arigatou, minna-san!

It wouldn't surpise me if they did given the success of the remakes they did of FFV and VI. I just hope they actually rework all of the graphics instead of just adding some CG to the endings and openings of the game.

Posted from an earlier entry...

***from an interview from Tetsuya Nomura:***

"The PS3 tech demo was actually not the perfect forum that he wanted to have. It was just timing that we had to submit something in time for E3, for the press conference. So, again, it was not perfect forum. And the 7 remake idea was always, always in conversation, just because it's so popular. And then just because of that tech demo here in the PS3 conference, that probably based more expectations of fans, obviously. And Kitase-san already has told Nomura-san so many times that if there is a remake, that should be created by Nomura. But, again, Nomura-san has so many other projects lined up already in the future schedule, so it's almost impossible to think about that and squeeze that in. But if there is a right time, it would be interesting to create."

***and from a Gamespot Article entitled: "With Heaven"***

"Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes (the GameCube port of the original Metal Gear Solid) is an example of how to re-create a great game too accurately. Because there weren't enough changes to the structure and gameplay of Metal Gear Solid, audiences were given a game that didn't feel nearly as good as it looked. Graphical updates without gameplay enhancements make for pretty but shallow gaming experiences. Conversely, the remake of Resident Evil seemed to perfectly integrate the original game, while making just enough changes to keep people familiar with the series on their toes. A remake of Final Fantasy VII shouldn't be identical to the original, but Square Enix needs to make sure that it doesn't change anything that fans would otherwise miss"

--- i would like to see it reborn in PS3... but i'd rather feel that i won't and should not expect anything from Square-Enix until they are ABSOLUTELY sure they will release it...

I don't think they will remake FFVII on the PS3 i mean what would you do if somebody asked you redo a project that you did a while ago especially if you had to redo all of it.
Square-enix is probably trying to forget about FFVII and want to do new things instead of sticking to old, they did make the advent children movie maybe to keep the people happy and to make them stop asking for sequels.
Also with debates about now everything seems to be sensored down as you know the start of FF VII is about blowing up mako reators.
though it would be great to see FFVII hit the PS3 as the PS3 goes on Blu-ray discs which means there is alot more space to allow the better graphics and more in depth with out shorting the story and cuutting things out.
Just imagine it more in depth mini-games and side quests as well as the more in depth gameplay.
But saddly it probably aint gonna happen :(
