Original Story of FFVII- Jenova Project

This is basically a thread for the story of the original final fantasy VII game. I'm writing this up for anyone who hasn't played the game or bothered to but wishing to know how the story begun. I'd advise you to read this whether you have or have not watched Advent Children(There might be things in here you didn't know about). The story takes place about two thousand years before the game took place. A vast number of Cetras(also know as Ancients) found that journeying for the Promised Lands to be too dificult and decided to leave the other Cetras to form their own civilisation(now known as the human race of the game). The other Cetras moved to planets from one to another restoring it's nature and hoped to eventually find the Promised Lands(the one thing that the Cetra has been looking for). Then Jenova(who was NOT a Cetra) crashed onto the Planet and where she landed, the Northern Crater was formed(or maybe formed by the Black Materia which summons a meteor before Jenova landed). It is believed that Jenova was an alien from another planet travelling across the Universe to take over the Planets for its Lifestream(or the natural "soul" of the Planet, where pure Mako energy comes from and where all souls return to after death) in order for Jenova to survive or continue living. At the same time I think jenova was also looking for the Promised Lands which is romoured to be full of Mako energy. Anyways while the Humans hid away and stayed safe for the time being, the Cetra went to investigate the crash scene and befriended with Jenova and trust her(which Jenova was actually manipulating them). Meanwhile, Jenova was creating a virus which turned the Cetra insane and eventually into monsters. Only a few managed to escape. The Planet then realises that its in danger from its severe wound caused by Jenova's crash and started to create 5(or more) WEAPONs(huge living creatures with unbelievable powers) to protect itself. While this was taking place, the remaining Cetra managed to seal Jenova in a geological stratum( a layer of rock in the Earth's crust according to dictionaries and other sources)thus the WEAPONs(Saphire, Ultima, Diamond, Emerald, Ruby Weapon) were not needed and slept inside the Planet waiting incase anyone(or anything) should threaten the Planet's safety. About two thousand years later, on a discovery mission for fossils or something, Professor Gast and Hojo from Shinra found Jenova's body in the geological statum. They tested Jenova's body and wrongfully concluded that Jenova was a Cetra. They began extracting cells from Jenova and inplanting them into humans whilst being exposed to huge amount of Mako energy as they thought that they could create a newbreed of superhumans which will have incredible strength and train them to be part of Shinra's special force, SOLDIER. But there was no human who could withstand Jenova's cells and exposure to Mako energy then Hojo had an idea which to impregnat Lucrecia, another scientist who also worked on the "Jenova Project". While the baby was still in the womb, it would be injected with Jenova's cells and exposed to Mako energy. Some time around this point , Professor Gast draws the line at the manipulation of human life and leaves the Project; severing all his links with Shinra. He moves to Icicle Town (in the North of the world) and settles down with Ifalna, the last remaining member of the Cetra race. The pair have a child - Aeris - and Ifalna tells Gast about what Jenova truly is. Gast realises that the experiments he and Hojo were conducting were wrong as Jenova was not really a Cetra. However, Hojo finds him before anything can be done to stop the Project, and Gast is killed by Hojo's two escort guards. Infalna escapes to Midgar whose dying words were for Elmyna to take Aerith to a safe place...and so Elmyna had realized...she would never see her husband again(he died in the War at Wutai), nor did she have any children of her own -- and so, there was nothing else for her to do, but to take Aerith home with her. Anyways the baby who was experimented on was born and named Sephiroth and as Hojo hoped, survived Jenova's cell implantation and exposure to Mako energy. Lucrecia died shortly afterwards and Sephiroth was raised by Sinra Inc. who has been told that Jenova was his Mother(obviously that was all BS) and trained to become an elite SOLDIER. The next major event that occured after this was the "Nibelheim Incident". Shinra, Inc is worried by reports of monsters emanating from the Mako Reactor in Nibelheim, and send a team of soldiers to investigate. The team comprises now-General Sephiroth and SOLDIER First-Class Zack, along with two supporting officers (one of whom is Cloud Strife). The party takes along a local girl named Tifa Lockheart, who will act as their guide through the Nibelheim mountains. The party eventually reach the Mako Reactor, after losing the other supporting officer in the mountains along the way. Upon entering the Reactor, the party enter a room full of pods, each pod containing a mutated human. These are the lesser subjects in the Jenova project, who are not as resilient as Sephiroth and were not able to stand up to the Jenova infusion. Sephiroth realises that Hojo had created these monsters, and begins to suspect that he too may be a similiar being. Sephiroth then confines himself in the Library in the basement of the Shinra Mansion in Nibelheim. The Library contains Professor Gast's complete documentation of the Jenova project, from start to the point when he left, which Sephiroth spends days reading. Eventually he learns the reason for his birth, goes insane, kills everybody in Nibelheim and burnt it down. Download FFVII: Last Order to see what happened after this. |

btw i found this opinion from a website about what Jenova was: "I think that Jenova is an angel that got banished from heaven by God for some reason unknown to me, which involved one of her wings being destroyed (her punishment), which results in why jenova only has one full wing and a half on the other side, and it also gives it a good reason on why she wants to become a god (revenge)." This opinion MIGHT be true because in Advent Children, Vincent and Cloud had a conversation which goes like this: Vincent: "It seems that they came into possession of Jenova's head" Cloud: "And the Mother that Kadaj's gang is searching for is..." Vincent: "That abominable thing which heaven sent, Jenova" I'm not sure if Vincent said that to use it as a metaphor but no one knew what Jenova was or where did she come from before she landed on the Planet so Jenova might not be an alien from outerspace as Ifalna might have said. |

i wondered y the centra didn't just kicked jenova's butt....anything that ugly isn't what i call a cute bear to cuddle with....

| Did they(Square Snix) change the story for FFVII? The thing I don't get is that when the girl talks at the beginning of Advent Children, she said that SOILDIER were the ones who buried Jenova when it was clear that the Cetra(Ancients) were the ones who did it. |
