Maybe because your brain is the one working. Remember that the brain is the one that controls everything in your body so you think it is real. Does my opinion made sense to you?

When you say they "feel real" do you mean that you can actually feel hot and cold, and the roughness of objects. Because that happens to me, and it really cool. I also have really messed up dreams.

I'm pretty sure it all comes down to past experiences. Your brain remembers the chemical sgnals that your nerves send to for all the different feelings, and it also remembers the emotions you experience in certain situations.

Why your brain chooses to replicate these experiences in dreams, I really can't say.

well your dreams are nothing more than memories either being deleted or sorted in your brain and a dream is all these going in super fast motion. so when you say it feels real it just means that you remeber the exact feeling of it happening

for example if you remeber falling down and you dream it then you will remeber the fall but never actually accomplish it; this also is represented if you dream that your reading - you cannot read while you dream but you know what the thing your reading says. (this is the most popular theory of what a dream is)

So what you (Sturm) are saying is that everything in our dreams originates from part of our memory.

So if for example I happen to feel pain in my dream (have done so twice) then this is a result of my brain taking in the 'surroundings' of the dream (created by the brain itself) and producing what it expects the result to be based on what is in my memory, in this case the feeling of pain.

Am I correct?

We are all shmidly.

(in theory) yes that would be correct because your pain would either be you moving around in your bed and hit yourself against a wall or nightstand while you dream of something hurting you (but remeber this is just one of the theories that seem the most accurate)

it seems that your dreams follow whats happening in reality... for example- the other day I was dreaming that I was walking in a dark road and i saw a guy with glasses then he puchced me on the arm and then i woke up i noticed that the pile of books next to me fell (all text books) and that my arm was red so i would think that the dream went along with me knocking all the books down while hurting my arm. to refer to what your saying is that either you hurt yourself in the dream or you were remebering the pain that happened during the last few days in your dream.

When my nose blocks up during the night, my dream switches to me being underwater, if my nose clears up I tend to dream i'm swimming, if it doesn't, I tend to dream i'm unable to breathe by being underwater. My brains way of adapting to the surroundings.

what about dreams that show future events? or dreams of a past life?

dreaming of the future means (of course it's all theory and speculation but)

that for last few days the same things have been hapening so when you dream something that happened and it happens the next day then your remebering something that feels familiar which would be the dream of a past days

Since the brain controls all senses (as proposed by most medical observations (complete bullcrap)), it is possible for you to taste, see, hear, touch, feel something which is actually none-existant. If your sensory organs send a nerve signal (a simple electric pulse, but uneasily altered by an outside force), and is recieved by the brain, your body will react as though it really has happened, whether it has or not. In a dream, if while you're dreaming, your sensory organs may send electrical signals at random to your brain, which will interpret it as you being in a situation you normally are not involved in.

I'll eat you.

if this is true then you are resenting your answer and are basing it on something you dont believe!

i certainly believe that your dreams are influenced by reality and memory. for example, if i am sleeping with just a sheet and i dream i am flying (the propulsion being my legs) i ALWAYS end up crashing to the ground and from that point it turns into a nightmare where i move at a snails pace trying to get to away from something . when i wake up the sheets are tangled around my leg. like wise if i get drunk i dream im drunk(only if i go to sleep at 3:00 am ;) )
