22 NOVEMBER 2024 --------------------------------------------------------------- The year is 2024. There\'s still no flying cars. We haven\'t been back to the moon. The giant Gundam in Odaiba has been decommissioned. Nintendo finally snapped and sued somebody. The craziest new anime games are actually Chinese gacha games. And yet, here I am, making my first forum post on Gendou many many years past its peak activity. I\'m 16 again, listening to my favorite anime tunes. And now I wonder: how many more of us there are, just wandering the Gendou wasteland, nostalgizing over how things were back then. 26 NOVEMBER 2024 --------------------------------------------------------------- I\'ve decided to turn this into a sort of anime-journal thing. I feel like it\'d be a fun place to do that- sort of, leaving messages in bottles or abandoned mailboxes or something. Today a friend and I finished rewatching Clannad and began rewatching Clannad: After Story. It\'s amazing how something as old as it is (comparatively speaking, I know it\'s not truly an *old* anime) can move me to tears as effectively as it does. Maybe becoming a full-grown adult has made me more receptive to the emotions in the series? Not looking forward to having my gut punched by C:AS, but also... I kind of am. Also, decided that, given the world\'s spinning towards subscription-only-files-on-cloud doom, I should probably build a storage device for all the anime, movies, and music I love so much. I know for most folks this was probably a given. I wonder how many of us still have working external or internal hard drives full of anime? I should have jumped on the bandwagon long ago, but I was a late bloomer to the anime world. Anyway, maybe I\'ll write again someday. This is nostalgic. If you see this, keep your chin up. The world\'s still beautiful, you just have to know where to look. |
