Japanese Universities

I'm planning to take up my master's degree on 2009 either in the US, Britain or Japan. I'm an economics major. Can any of you recommend universities in Japan that have competent master's degree programs for finance/management/economics majors? Thanks! ^_^ |

Tokyo University. The amount of people trying to get into that institution is staggering. It's also scary because Japanese people tend to take and retake the test over many times. they don't always get into so from that I'm guessing it must be a very challenging yet prestigious school. |

From its name, I'd say Tokyo University is a government-run institution then, right? Oh, thanks Lydia. ^_^ |

Tokyo University is pretty good in all fields. Lets say its like the Harvard University of Japan. Ive also heard of Nakatomi University but i dont know where it is. well any university in the mass transit city area would b good. I wonder are you good enuf to get into Oxford in Britain? well I might go to Columbia University for my masters and take my Doctorate degree in Tokyo U. myself. Im going to be "Saikou"(the best) Molecular biochemist there ever will be. I hope i can cure cancer before the meteor temple1 hits the earth in 2029 though... |

lol. sorry. just felt like laughing after reading diana's post. that was a cute reaction haha. hmm, i agree that tokyo uni is a prestigious institution. however, of all the many people i know (who furthered their studies in japan) in my life so far, only one person was able to enter this uni. im telling u, it's really hard to enter this uni. but no harm giving it a try. are there any japanese university fests in ur area during certain times of the yr? u might wanna check them out for more info.

I personally think it would be rather rash to even try to enter a japanese university, you will be VERY lucky if you get in. lets not forget the whole gaijin thing, just another reason for them not to let you in. |

Well for me, Todai (or Tokyo U.) is a pretty good school because (as people have already said) of the many people (even foreigners!) who try to enter the university. However, besides that, Japan is pretty competitive with regards to business (if you've seen JVC, Toyota, National/Panasonic, you'd know what I mean). So I think Japan is a good start for business-inclined students, since it is pretty much an expert now with regards to business and economy.

Thanks for the input. Well, I can't gauge how good I really am. Say that my gpa ranges from 3.5 to 3.8. I still don't know... Haha...I'm having mixed emotions with all of your feedback. From what I've heard, Japanese schools really demand a lot from their students. To Skinny Chouji, I'm also thinking of studying in Britain. UL or Oxford perhaps. I hope you achieve all your aspirations. Well, thanks again. ^_^ |

Yeah...Tokyo University is pretty good. My dad got in on scholarship there. He says that even if you dont know Japanese that well, u can still sorta get by. He wasnt too good at japanese, but still managed to get some degree there. But then again, he knows chinese so kanji shouldnt be too hard.... |

Hey! I am planning to study in Tokyo next year. I am 17 this year. But I still have not made my choice of which school to go to. Can you guys help? I am planning to study voice acting. --- http://www.tag.co.jp This school offers voice acting but I was wondering if there are even better choices and will I get a degree after I completed the course. I am also not sure if foreigners are permitted to study voice acting? Could someone with experience help me? I would appreciate greatly! |

i'm gonna apply for a scholership to study at japan this summer (crosses fingers). from what my teacher says (he used to teacher/live there) the high schools there are extreme difficult, but once you get into the university its hard not to graduate unless you're completly careless and don't show up. Example, in love hina it was hard to get INTO todai, keitaro spent how many years trying to get in? 3? lol but once he got in, it wasn't that bad. |

Japan has the BEST school in the world from what i know. Here is a list of the top 30 Univeristies in Japan. http://www.nigelward.com/top30.html It also has lings to tyheir websites and info on the schools. The University Of Tokyo actually has an Englis site if you don't read japanese. A majority of the other schools seem to have English Sites also.
