1. Funimation (Horrible dub / horrible name changing - sometimes) 2. Viz (Horrible name changing from Kudo Shinichi to Jimmy Kudo and Run to Moore wtf?) (Do they really have to change the character's name to "americanized" the show? I mean they are created by JAPANESE ppl not americans let them be).. |

4 Kids - Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh and now One Piece. They seemed alright at best in the dubbing category but I really despise them for licencing One Piece mainly since they are making it extremly child friendly. Sanji eats freakin lolli-pops now... I would have said before that adv put out some pretty bad dubs but in more recent times, they've seem to have actually hired realitivly good voice actors and they do for the most part straight translations from the original japaneese. What really turned me onto them was the dub job they did for Full Metal Panic! |

Nowadays dubbing is fine, companies now have enough money to hire halfway decent voice actors. Sure they're not as competent as the japanese ones but at least they don't make your ears bleed. Go watch some of the earliest anime brought over in the 70's and early 80s.. Listen to Riding Bean, Macross II or (heaven save your soul) M.D. Geist. Just try and refrain from gouging your eardrums out after 10 minutes.. I dare you <_< Recent dubs are just fine, DVDs come with both language tracks and anime on tv is free. Don't complain |

Hmm... well there used to be this one company called Nelvana. I wonder what happened to them? If you're a Cardcaptor Sakura fan, then you'll know what I'm talking about if you watched the "Americanized" version called Cardcaptors (which is actually considered a different show from Cardcaptor Sakura now). Most of the voices were bad. They changed the personalities of characters. Bad voices. Borderline retarded name changes. Trying to change the story from maho shoujo to something else. They did everything wrong that you could as a dubbing company. (Who the heck renames Eriol Hiragizawa into Eli Moon?)  |

I think 4Kids is the worst. The rest range from decent to excellent, depending on the shows. And I've said it before and will say it again, to the best of my knowledge Funimation and Viz changed the names in Case Closed (the title itself was changed for legal reasons, I believe) at the request of the Japanese owners of the show... |

| Oh man!!! Cardcaptors was the worst!!! They murdered CCS. Wahhh - poor kero-chan. However, I though Pioneer was responsible for that screw-up, thought I suppose they could have been in cahoots with Nelvana. |

4 Kids. I saw One Piece on Saturday. I thought the Yu-Gi-Oh people had bad voices, but One Piece takes the cake. 4 Kids messes up everything they lay there hands on. Don't even get me started and what they did to Tokyo Mew Mew.....

4Kids has got to be the worst, for a company to ruin an anime seiries so badly with it voiceovers and ruthless editing. i mean really is it that horrid that an adult cartoon caracter not even trying to promote smoking gets edited to the point where all he does is sing the best friend song!! and blood oh no, children please... when a sword cuts you bleed and by editing that out it gives more of an impact that i think says, yay we can play with knives and not get hurt : ) thats just not right.

| 4Kids is absolutely, without a doubt the worst company. The fact that they totally mutilate a series to make it safe for kids makes them the worst, never mind the fact that their VAs suck. Funimation used to suck but now they're getting better, but it's probably only so they can keep up with the popularity of the other companies. |

4Kids - Grade: F (failed) In general of these animes - horrible acting One Piece - horrible character name change (ala; Zoro > Zolo etc...) - bgm changes over it's original bgm - We Are > horrible and cheezy rap intro - EP 1 was the manga equivalent of chapter 2 (which the original EP 1 was slashed) - EP 2 was supposedly to air today (2004-09-25), though thankfully that the baseball game interrupted the show. And EP 2 was the manga equivalent to chapter 3 (Luffy vs Captain Morgan) lol, even 4Kids pales in comparison to Bandai Entertainment's supreme dubbing skillz :D. |

4kids takes the cake. It sucks.. I used to despise Funimation (aka DBZ) but then they put out Fruits Basket.. and I was like.. o-o Ooooooooooo They didn't kill it!! Yayyy~~~ though some of the voices could have been better.. but I'm not complaining.. ^.^ *happy dance* Blue Gender dubbing sucks though. |

if their name is "4Kids" are they not supposed to make stuff childish? =D they are not forcing anime devs to sell their stuff to them. so, not gonna say it 'cause it clearly wasn't intended for us born prior to 1990. Funimation is ok, even if they rape the voices you can get the original anime with subtitles on DVD. I'll say Viz, the little they have done is 100% junk.. |

I agree with the general consensus, 4kids sucks. I also agree that ADV is definitly the leader in dubs. Full Metal Panic and Fumoffu's dubs are one of the first that I considered the english dub to be better. They also did an excellent job of translating the subtle inside jokes and humor as well as choosing voices in Excel Saga. |
