I must agree with you Atemu.
The old= Ranma 1/2 | The new= NARUTO
However, i must say that since more anime is in distribution, we have been getting more anime right now but some are gosh-darn awful. What i refer to as new is 'NEW' to the US. (i don't dl fresh anime a lot)
The old, bad= Ronin Warriors (sorry i couldn't think of any at the moment)
The new, bad= Happy Lesson, Super Gals, Kaleido Star, Ai Yori Aoshi, Panyo DIGI Charat, Birth, Ex-Driver, etc and all that awful stuff.
So... I don't know which is better but since more anime is out now than in the past, i would say it is a good thing. Anime is getting noticed and now even my public library is carrying manga. it's pretty cool.

I must agree as well. The older anime took in all of the cool kick ass ideas and made them into animated wonderful-ness ( here I go, making up new words )! However, some new ones actually have been rather good. I must get one thing out however... whatever made Kite emotionally beautiful? What made it interesting for that matter?

Well I'm having a hard decision. I'm going to contradict myself but then; The old anime have a better story and plot line other than the newer ones coming out. I find that the ones coming out all seem to be ecchi (which I don't like). But also, the new era seems to head towards being unique, so then the stories are kind of different.
The older anime series just happen to be my favourite, like: Kodomo no Omocha and Marmalade Boy (and all of Studio Ghilbi movies)
But then I really enjoyed things like Fruits Basket, Full Moon wo Sagashite.

So, newer ones when it comes to uniqueness, animation and, really funny humour
Older series for that hilariously cute comedy, the various facial expressions and the sappy ol' romance. And perhaps the original story lines

"I think my anime taste may go back further than anyone on this or any site. I went to college for animation, I love anime, new and old, I haven't seen them all, but i lost count of the number of shows Ive watched. In the old days they used to use actual paint, and ink to make anime. In those days Anime had more substance. Princess Knight, Tetsuwan Atom, Speed Racer. Ranma, Urusei Yatsura, Macross, Manzinga, Lupan >>> up to Tenchi Muyo. The problem is they managed to make stuff that was made fast, and cheap, faster and cheaper. There was crap back then, but it was still fun, now more stuff looses across the board. On the plus side now we have computer generated animation. CG when used right like in Last Exile, is cool. As long as someone is still up all night drawing manga, there is still hope!!!"

Hey, we still have classics that are living. Sometimes the newest stuff is not exactly the best. The anime you guys mentioned, the oldest made, are probably the most treasured ones we could find. Without them, the newest anime would have nothing. You understand that it's about sacrifice that gives evolution its chance to create a more unique entity. That goes to anime, too. Many old titles are somewhat neglected by the new-age anime freaks. Not to mention, some anime had been remade with a new image to better themselves, but at the same time, they kill the originality of the old ones.

i guess i'd have to go with the older anime being better as well. most of the anime collection i've retained is old, for some reason i rerely find the same kind of interest in it newer anime in compareson to old

Both; when it only goes to show that the older ones have better originality, and mostly are the reasons why new animes have been innovated, but with slight alterations to plots. Personally, the former is more humorous. Just take these as examples -- Lupin III, Lamu the invader girl, Doraemon, YAIBA! You'd see obvious similarities from this and that.

We appreciate older animes for their novelty; new animes for their advancement/improvement. However you see a nicely-drawn anime, with sucky plot... nay thanks. It's better in the trash, perhaps I'd go back to the previous ones.

The oldies are better but their donwside (most of those anime) is they are really dragging. But I cannot deny that there are better new anime series than the old ones.

I like the way the old ones are drawn better than the way they are drawn now. Old anime looks totally pwnzorz!!1!

I'll have to advocate for the other side and vote new. I just like the clarity of the animation style and how it's ever changing to meet up with the rapid demand of anime junkies such as ourselves. Granted, we can still look back and appreciate the oldies, but the new ones are presented out there so we can appreciate them with the same fervor. All I ever watch nowadays are new anime anyway, occasionly watching older stuff to remember certain lines and scenes just for overall enjoyment. Hell, who am I kidding, I like 'em both.

Ano, anata wa anime-junkie to itte hoo ga ii deshou ka?

Id say the problem with the new series is the lack of a good long running shoujo series. You got good shonen series currently airing like Naruto, One Piece, Bleach. But what fills in for the good old romance series that had over 26 episodes like Kimagure Orange Road, Marmalade Boy, Kare Kano, Hana Yori Dango, Kodomo no Omocha, etc. Not enough Shoujo. Currently all the romance animes are either based of hentai games or are ecchi harem type.

Id say new age shonen is better, but shoujo is falling.

Though considering all the animes that arent shonen or shoujo id say new age anime is better.

I like Ai Yori Aoshi, it didn't become popular by being bad.

Agree with jomunga. In contradiction, new shoujo animes does not have much actions goin on. Rurouni Kenshin is an example of old anime packed with romance and action.

Shoujo is doing anything but falling, haven't you heard of Air????
If that isn't a good shoujo then I don't know what is.
And since when the heck is shojou supposed to have action?????nani???
It's SHOUJO NOT SHOUNEN!!!! Shounen=action Shoujo=mushy-gushy-touchy-feely romance/drama stuff.
Action isn't necessary in a shoujo for it to be good, so stop trying to kill one of my favorite genres with your testosterone rush and go play Halo- That way I can prove my point while sniping your brain out on coagulation.
