Hey Gendou, I've just had an idea. I don't think this would be too much work, but I may be wrong, just for fun though. I think that you should make a sort of poll among all the songs in the database and leave it open until Christmas and then announce the winner(s) on new year's. Next to each song there could be a vote link and each user only gets to vote for one song in the database, online or offline. Maybe it could become a yearly thing. If that was so, you could restirict the songs you could vote on to only those added since Jan 01, 2005 for the real song of this year. I haven't been here since last year so maybe you've done this all along, but I thought I'd just speak up. To all you others: If you like this idea speak up and voice opinion, if no one wants it, why should Gendou waste his time? |

I like the idea, but the fact that there are so many songs might make it difficult to do. |

It's not that you have to consider all the songs. I'm sure you have a favorite out of all the ones you've downloaded; just vote for that one. |

Excellent idea! The problem is that the sheer amount of songs and vast variety of tastes might conflict with one another. There would thus be several small factions that each support different songs. There would be no easily noticable majority, which would make finding a winner difficult. To fix this, you should filter the songs by having rounds. The first round could decide the top 50 or so songs, and each round could progress from there. This plan not only weeds out tons of songs, butalso pleases the masses, hope it helps! |

Ooh, I like this idea! Maybe we could do a genre kinda thing... Have the best classical, pop, techno, heavy metal, etc. It would be a pain to get all of those songs organized or classified though. |

Well, this is a great idea! But... about vote. I think there's some problem. There are so many songs, over 2500++ songs here. Anyone ever think about... tournament mode? (i think this is crazy idea) Normal vote will ended up just like "favorite song thread". But, first we have to select which songs that will enter the tournament. Then we do a vote for each "battle". |

If you think I actually like ready steady go you're quite mistaken. All you have to do is look at the most downloaded list and you'll know who the winner will be. |

great idea! offtopic:the good song... that'll have to be Mirage Lullaby. depends on people's taste too >.> |

The most downloaded songs will not necessisarily be the winners. Though they will probably take high places, tastes can change and what could have been downloaded a million times a few years ago could only have received a few hundred in the past year due to a decline in popularity of the associated anime or a newer opening to that anime. |

Out of curiosity, by anime song of the year, would you necessarily take the entire database into consideration or just the new releases of the year? Saying song of the year and including songs from 5 years ago seems misleading. This might once again lessen the amount of songs up for victory. Only new releases should be up for consideration then, maybe the old classics can be included in song of the century! or something, whatever! BTW, thanks for liking my idea! |

Well, the Advent Children soundtrack isn't going to win, it isn't even on the site. About the year thing, I didn't have any better ideas of what to call it at the time, and I figured even if we allow all songs to be entries this time, if it became a yearly thing, Gendou would restrict it in the future to the songs of that year. |

you overestimate the sheer multitude of people who use this site without viewing the forums. most people will only download songs from what they only see on tv. |

True, but a big banner saying "song of the year contest" might catch their eye. |

Yes, thought of that and it was all part of my plan to get people that never visited the forum more involved. Should this go into effect, it would need to be announced outside of the fourms on the main page or on the main amusic page. |

Hard to believe people don't visit the forums, it's disgraceful! |

it's a very interesting idea, but i think it's JUST TOO PREDICTABLE. some FMA or bleach or GS/D would take the win. for sure. and honestly, i would be hesitant to vote if i knew some lame bleach song would win. er did i just say that?... ha, here's an interesting idea: why don't the top posters take a poll and chose the winning song. then the the poster who picks the song with the least number of votes must donate to gendou! how's that for interesting :-) -b |

That doesn't encourage participation now does it? Not everybody has the ability to donate and a required donation almost defeats the definition of a donation. |

Song of the year? But what is this "year"? I mean, songs released in 2005 may not be on the site while songs released in the 80s can probably be here. An anime review magazine in my region once made this kind of poll in their website. Guess what? Dominated by Gundam SEED. Not that GS actually has bad songs. I think they're fantastic. But this can not be apart from the popularity of the anime. I mean, who'll give vote to mahou shoujo lyrical nanoha? It has good songs, though. Anyway, as an example, the result was:1. Meteor - TM Revolution 2. Reason - Nami Tamaki 3. Shang-Ri-La - Angela - Soukyuu N F 4. Akatsuki No Kuruma - See-Saw - GS 5. Fields Of Hope - GS 6. Melissa - Porno Graffiti - F M A 7. Re-Write - F M A 8. Asterisk - Orange Range - Bleach 9. Haruka, Kimi No Moto E - A Bee - Hachiyou Shou 10.Ready Steady Go - FMA 11.Innocent Starter - Mizuki Nana - Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha 12.Wonderful Days Pull Tab to Can - TENNIS No Oujisama 13.Shining Days - Minami Kuribayashi - Mai Hime 14.Gekkou Hana - Janne De Arc - Black Jack 15.You Won't See Me Coming - JJ Burnel - Gankutsou 16.Re-Sublimity - Kotoko - Kanazuki No Miko 17.Neko Mimi Mode - Dimitri From Paris - Tsukoyomi Moon Phase 18.Scramble - Horie Yui - School Rumble See what I mean? It's not fairly objective on the songs. |
