japanese is not that hard. it is very logical. the sounds are different than in english, closer to spanish actually. if you can master the pronunciation, the rest of the language is pretty strait forward. if you wanna learn a hard language, learn perl! |

I'm just now learning common phrases and it's not all that hard, but I know that when I get to other words (like seperate words that have their own meaning but when they are put together, they mean a totally different thing) it's going to confuse me a whole lot! I'm just hoping to get it soon! |

If you want to learn a language where the grammer jumps out and beats you senseless, then I recomend perl. |

hehe... i am now starting to learn up japanese language. i found that watching japanese movie and animation helps me improve my japanese pronunciation? i think if you want to improve your pronunciation this is the way to help. am i right?? wow, i wish i can be expert as you all... how can i improve it and which is the most effectual way to learn it?? |
Re: Japanese Language

Depends on the show. Some movies and anime have characters that speak in slang or in a dialect. For instance, if you watch a Yakuza movie they speak differently then normal Japanese people do. An anime like 'Abenobashi' features characters from a region of Japan that has a dialect. Watching Japanese tv is a good way to learn about pronunciation but you just have to be careful.

singing helps pronuciation. just sing your favourite anime song just like me. now i can pronouce japanese very well. learning Japanese may be easier for people who knows Chinese as almost half of the Japanese words are taken from Chinese character. the pronuciaton may be different but the meaning remains the same. Of course there are some exception. :)

i agree, singing is a great way to train your mouth muscles to pronounce japanese! oh, yes, knowing kanji is like having a back door entrance into the japanese language. for those who have english as their first language, the differences are greater and there is no "basis for understanding". |
Re: Japanese Language
|
I have to agree with that one... singing in japanese is a way to help with pronouncation (sp?) I sing in japanese all the time its fun! As for Kanji.. Its really hard... But once you get it down and mastered writing in japanese is a breeze.. yet you need to know your Hiragana and Katakana. |

katakana is hard to learn at first cause its not used very often in class, except for your name and stuff. but once you go to japan, you will pick up katakana REAL fast, cause it is on every sign you see, and there are a LOT of signs! |

Uh, latin is MUCH easier than Japanese. In fact its probably the easiest language I have ever studied, mainly, because its dead. The grammar doesnt pull any tricks on you, there are no weird exceptions. I think that after a certain point in time, all you study in Japanese are the exceptions. Latin is hard because all the nerdy freaks take it (believe me, I know, Ive been there)

I'm taking Japanese and Its the easiest language I've ever taken,BUT that is only my opinion and I resect theKiyote response and alot of people who have not taken the language look at it and think its very difficult when in reality(or just my opinion)its a very easy langauge to learn and I hope everyone who reads this tries at least once to take the class.
