A hight majority of the world celibrates chrismas, for the main reason is that on december the 26 jesus was born. BUT jesus is a super nattural entity, that exsisted befor the univers. SOMETHING that always was can not be born, SO what is the real reason we celibrate chrismas?

It's actually December 25, not 26. That's when Jesus became a man and was born on Earth. Christmas is a day to celebrate his birth, not as a God, but as a man. That's coming from a Christian perspective. |

Christmas is not about the gift giving, or the feast during the season. It's about remembering how Jesus was born, yes? Most kids around the world would say, "Hey! It's Christmas time, and Santa's gonna come and give us good kids gifts." (For the love of God, nasty kids outnumber nice kids 1x10^6 to 1.) It's a misconception, or probably because of tradition that this belief stood up. I know a lot of people know about the legend of good'ol Saint Nick, the jolly fat guy in a red suit and rides on a sleigh. Most people also know that the guy known as Santa Claus is based an original and true person. I prolly forgot the name, but it's something near Claus. He belonged to a rich family and everytime Christmas season came, he would travel across town (or maybe other places as well) and give out whatever excess he had to the less fortunate, throwing down pieces of gold down the chimney. Whatever the true story was, it was the basis of the tale of the jolly good fat guy. Well, set aside the red guy, Christmas is actually about the spirit of giving. We're just recollecting the things that happened during that night: the angel that appeared before the Three Wise Guys; the star that guided them; Mary and Joseph's search for a place to crash -- so that their son would be born; and the birth of the Messiah -- Jesus Christ. A human indeed but he is the Son of Man. What was that again I said? *blip* ![]() |

We don't celebrate Christmas. We're Jewish well I am, Rin converted from the Angelican Church of England and that's how we raised the kids. I dont like the holidays. chirstmas is shoved dwon my throat starting before halloween now and channukah is getting the same way. We give do gifts to our friends after all we, especially Rin cherish our friends and it is that time of year. Our gifts are unique otherwise we woldnlt be Ranger and Rin. We buy a case of the same item and that's the gift for this ear. Easy, simple and for under $100 you can give a truly unique gift. Gourmet foods are perfect. for $6US each you can give everybody (this years gift) a 6oz jar of Oliellaberry jam. Frankly I find people get mean, gratuties disappear form the tip baslket on tours basically everybody turns into AHs during the tije of year we are supposed to be cheerful. BTW there is a health syndrome called, "Seasonal disaffected disorder" that turn people that way. |

No offense.... Christmas is just nothing! December is winter times -- so how can Jesus born in December? In the Bible, when Jesus is born, it's not winter. Why December 25? Just wondering... please don't get mad... |

Christmas is a money maker thats why. I don't care about jesus. But christmas is an excuse for a pleasant change in atmosphere, x-mas trees, presents, food, and a good time. It gives a reason for a celebration, other wise december would be as boring as any other month. It gives an excuse to visit family members and to give and to be good. To go on dates and spend quality time with loved ones. Christmas is really just a reason to party. It motivates people to do something different from normal routine and enjoy themselves. Christmas is a good because it give people insentive, otherwise December 25 would just be another depressing boring day. |

TO SHIMIZU, IT was my mistake to say he was born on that day. THE day really simbolizes the day jesus becomes a man, and must take the responsiblity of dying for the all of mans sins.

Actually, although it's the traditional thought that Jesus was born on Christmas, there is substantial proof that he was actually born sometime in early October. On the other hand, there's no proof that he was born on Christmas, except for traditions and such. @Jomunga: If you wanna think of Christmas as some sort of lame excuse to give and visit, go ahead. Just remember to look at the upside of things; people giving without thought of return, random nice acts increase, donations to charities rise, etc... And yes, people do make money off of Christmas, but families gain joy off of it too. @Ranger, yeah, it brings out the worst in weak people. And if you're surrounded by weak people, you end up turning into them because you don't have strong people to follow. If you're strong, you can get past the stress and rush and look at the joy it brings. Of course, some circumstances can alter this whole thing, such as deaths, debt, etc... |

I said that! Whoops no I didn't. I thought I typed that in as my other half of my post, but it disappeared! Whatever that was not the point I wanted to get accross. My my oh well I'll say it now...On second thought just read what Sachiel said. Basically it gives people the opportuity to show love for another, it makes this cold month a cheer that brings out a little more out of everybody. The good part to the money making thing, is it raises the economy and puts more money into circulation. One more thing, your house will smell good until April when you finally get rid of the christmas tree. |

For me, Christmas is one of the most important days of the year. During december 25, we celebrate the birth of JEsus Christ. We should be thankful because God has send his son to save us from all our sins. Even though i'm not a religous person, I always remember this day because aside form Jesus' birth, its a time for us to take a break from our day to day activities and remember our loved ones and significant others. Its a time of get together. It gives me warm fuzzies when i know that christmas is coming. who would not? Just imagine the presents and the people who smile and greet you. Christmas is great!!! Happy holidays to all... |
