Childhood where art thou?

After reading about tag in the depr ession thread i've been wondering about all the basic-not in nocent-times when we were little. I remember a game we used to play called dizzy which we spun around a lot and we would throw dodge balls at each other while dizzy. We also played "you gotta problem with my house?" were we would hit each other's houses and talk about our houses. We played a lot of games.

What did you play when you were little?

Cops 'n robbers. Usually I'd play the ruthless cop, then bash out things at the goody-two robbers (my elder brother, and some of his stupid friends). I really missed hitting them on the head with plastic poles, and polyesterine machine gun!

At that time, I thought that it'd be great to have a shotgun (the main magazine that I see in police shows) instead of a sub-machine gun. But my mom couldn't find any plastics, afraid that I might not be able to carry the heavy thing. Plus, it might hurt my playmates when she could see me hitting them as hard as I could! XD I didn't mind anyway. >=D

Ahhh...this thread brings back nice memories...

I remember playing swordfights with my cousin, that was fun. It all started on Christmas when we both got Star Wars lightsabers(I got the Darth Maul double-bladed one, he got the regular Obi Wan one). We fought each other a lot with them, doing stupid reckless moves like jumping off the couch upside down. Eventually though, we hit the sabers together so hard that there was a stomach churning snap, and they both broke. That kinda sucks, but the two days we had fun with them were memorable.

BTW, cops and robbers is fun, I wonder if the robber ever wins?
Tag was really fun too, although four square and dogdeball were my faves. Such great memories...

Have you ever tried getting big sticks(like ones that are 12-25 inch long) and duck taping them to make sure they last? Get some of these and fight.

(Snickers) Ah my childhood memories.

I believe the most common game for me was army men, cosplay as commandos, sneak around the neighborhood, create missions for ourselfs to complete. Ninjas, same as army men just we did it at night and with ninja cosplay. Tag, hide and seek, dodge ball, the classics of course. A couple of times we would dissasemple the couch to make a wrestling ring. I also had alot of nerf guns in which we could imitate the american gladiator show. Elementary school and middle school had a variety of interesting sports, unlike highschool. Handball!

Memories.

What I rould really like to do now is play these same games while I am at my max physical level, with others at my level.
I want to play ninjas just like you would paintballing just with padded bokken and paper ninja stars.

"Base" was a fun game where my house and my friends house were bases and we would attack each other's bases. Funny thing was some of us were in both bases.

What do you miss about your childhood that doesn't involve games?

Of course, robbers never win, ROQ-san! It's all good with the saying... Good guys always win. Ha! =D

We Filipinos have our versions of playthings: Luksong-baka, luksong-tinik, patintero, langit at lupa, ice-water, tumbang preso, taguan, sungka, chinese-garter, ten-twenty... LOL etc., etc., =D

I know Base too, and it's one of the craziest games ever. Aye aye, attacking bases when both are in bases! lol and most of the time, when everyone just enjoys the game too much, the rules could be tolerated. Well, rules don't matter as long as great fun is concerned; with exception to our no. 1 rule... BE A SPORT! It's really vexing to have playmates who'd cry outta blue.

P.S.: Handball's the sport that seems like playing basketball right (because you dribble the ball while running)?

I didn't play a lot as a kid...I never got to play luksong-baka, tumbang preso, etc. (I'm Filipino). But I do cherish all those afternoons doing nothing, just enjoying the moment, thinking nothing about exams or homework and I believe I never encountered the word 'stress' before.

WHen I was around eight or nine, my siblings, me, and my cousin made up a game called seige. Basically it required a balcony and a rubber ball. It was sorta like basketball, in that you tried to get the rubber ball to get onto the the balcony. Points were given for those balls that landed on the floor of the balcony. But there were people defending the besieged balcony from the ball(s) being thrown, so it became quite a challenge. besides, those besieged people could peg people on the ground with any balls they caught/prevented from hitting the balcony floor, earning points for their own side.

(a biscuit!) he's so sweet. (a biscuit!) apples on the table, peaches on the floor. step back, baby, i don't want you anymore. to the front, to the back, to the si-si-side. to the front, to the back, to the si-si-side.] (haha, what? we were kids! the stuff we sang didn't have to make sense.) bicycling, video games (nintendo and tetris), ocassional visits to the park and etc. so many nice memories...

Kotuso, Shadow of the Colossus is the funnest game EVER! Ending's totally horrible, though.

Anyways, back on track... I don't really miss my childhood, I'm still in it. Just on an upper level, of course >:-)

What I did when I was a kid:
Mainly played micro machines, occaisonally had a nerf fight (I love those), basically the same things everyone else said.

BUT NOW...
I think that playing capture the flag would own... But mod the rules a little bit ^_^

So in this version, you'd have two teams (or maybe even multiple teams, that'd be a blast), and you'd need a lot of Nerf or paintball or laser tag or something. You must venture into the enemy's base, grab their flag (and a REAL flag, with a pole and everything), and bring it back to your flag whilst dodging lasers/paint/balls and darts. Oh, I'm psyched just thinking about it... I play Halo too much. But playing Halo in real life sounds like the BEST thing! Imagine doing that capture the flag thing, but get your whole neighborhood doing it. you could have 5 teams, climbing on top of houses allowed, trim a few trees to get good sniping spots, and somehow make the flag un-campable ^_^

Okay, you know what? Let's all make a pact: That sometime, we'll all get together and play these old childhood games. Heck, I'll bike up to Canada to do this stuff! It sounds AWESOME!! *is getting overly psyched*

And someone (can only look back 10 posts T.T) said something about our memories that didn't include games. Well, they are only a few, if not a few then none. Childhood is all about playing, so that's all we remember!

We should get together somehow... During summer or spring break, if possible, we should all (or people in USA group, the Filipinos get together, etc.) get together in a park and play! Head to someone's neighborhood, play dodgeball, capture the flag (my way, of course ^_^), even do snowball fights in winter.

C'MON! Let's do it!!

(in my dreams T.T)

You really like this thread Sachiel?I guess its a good thing I made it(I didn't think it would last this long.)

I don't know where you live Sachiel, but if you can access a forest(a pretty big one) you can grab some friends and play paintball.(assumeing you have paint and the guns to shoot them)You can rent this guns from specially desinated stores. Basically Forest Paintball is really fun when you have two structures on each side with a flag and there are a tonofreallyawesomestratigiesandneatgunsandsnipersandstuffand. Oh, wait i'm getting ahead of myself. If you don't live close enough to a forest(or don't have the money for supplies) Go down to your nearest speedball playing field. You may have to go out of your way if you live in a big city(unless your city is friggen awesome with indoor speedball fields) Basically speedball is what you just described in your CTF. We have one on the outskirts of our town.(splatzone)
