Techno or Trance?

I've been told that Techno is music without words whereas Trance contains words. I can't confirm that now but I was hoping someone will. In the meantime, trance or techno? What artist(s) do you prefer?

1. Ayumi Hamasaki (any of her trance mixes or agressive mixes)
2. Siria's "Endless Summer"

In reality I don't listen to much techno or trance besides Ayu's works. =T

I never knew that Ayumi Hamasaki did trance... I always thought that techno was music that had no words, but also had a big beat going out through the whole thing. And trance was like techno, but less emphasis on the beat and more emphasis on being all skewed up...

Descent 3 is music that's like halfway between techno and trance, I think...

But I'd have to say I listen to Ayumi Hamasaki's music, too ^_^

lmaoz....hell eyah ayu does trance...i got her full disco xcept for 1 album...cant rememba..

but if u lookin for techno then try the bubble mixes...those r good...if u got trouble findin it juz email me or reply on dis thread

lol , why would this thread be against the rules? What rules did you think this thread broke? Jeez, it was only like an hour... Gendou doesn't check this site 45 times a day like I do ^_^;

Which of her albums are most trance-like? I must buy it ^_^

wellz i recommend u juz buy the newest trance n remix 1s cos they are pretty much simmilar to the old 1s but the new 1s got the non-stop mixes which r pretty cool...

mah fave is the ayu-ro mix 3...^^

I'm a huge trance fan and happened to find this topic, so I thought I'd shed some light on the subject.

I'm not sure exactly what techno refers to nowadays. I think it refers to the old style techno (2 Unlimited, the Movement, etc.) as well as electronic dance music in general (trance, electronica, tribal, etc.). Techno and trance can have vocals, but probably most don't. As for trance, it is a style of music that puts your mind in a dream-like state. It is known for its anthemic melodies and repeating patterns. Usually, trance starts with repeating baselines, building up as it goes. Then it will go into a breakdown, in which the beat and much of the accompaniment stops. The breakdown is the most exciting part. Then a repeating melody begins, which is usually uplifting, but can also be depressing or chaotic or whatever. Then it will gradually build back up again, repeating the melody. And often it will go back to the way it started and go into the breakdown again to generate suspense. Then it will end the same way it started. This may sound confusing, but when you hear it, you'll know exactly what I mean. On wikipedia.com. they have articles on techno and trance that can explain it better than I can. Just go on there and search for "techno music" and "trance music". Also, a great place to listen to trance would be Digitally Imported (http://www.di.fm). You can also go on djcentral.com, trancedomain.com, or globalbeatz.net and download some trance mixes. I recommend these sets from globalbeatz.net, because they'll give you an idea of the different flavors of trance.

im more of a trance person, techno is good once in a while but not always. the difference is techno and trance has a different style in beats, for example these songs practically every1 knoes.

Sandstorm - DaRude (it is techno)
but...

ayumi's my fave!! but i've always thought her songz were a mixture of trance + techno..:P
