Help needed!!! "Baten Kaitos" and "Fire Emblem"

Hi and thankx for spending your precious time reading this. First let me tell you that i am a huge fan of RPGs. And now onto my problem: I saw this game advertisment about the game "Baten Kaitos" and "Fire Emblem" and I wanna buy those two games. But they are for the Game Cube.....and i dont have one. Dont laugh at my stupidity just yet....keep reading. My friend(Hazz_Dude) has one and i can just play the games on his Game Cube. But i am not sure if the games are that good, and i dont wanna spend 30 pounds buying each game just to find out that it aint good. So if any of you people played any of those games, could you please comment on them? Tell me about the battle system and...well...your overall opinion on the game(the good and bad things). Thank you for your time reading this.

I have both Baten Kaitos and Fire Emblem and I think both of them were worth the money. The better of the two is definately Fire Emblem. You have to use alot of strategy in it but it still has some action. If you like games for their story lines, you won't be too impressed. It's the usual one kingdom trying to take over another and some people rebel. The battle system is turn-based and set up on a grid battlefield. There are different objectives for each level such as "defeat the boss," "escape" and "defeat all enemies." You have some characters and you move them one by one. During each characters turn, you can attack the enemies and use items and stuff. Different characters can do different things like some can use magic and attck from a space away and some can heal allies and some can "chant" and allow another character to move again. After almost every battle you get new ones and you can evolve them to stronger forms and stuff. Now, Baten Kaitos is more fast paced. The story in this game is alot better but still not as good as games like "Tales of Symphonia" (If you've ever played that). The battle system is card-based and during your turn, you quickly choose cards from your hand to attack with or heal with or whatever. During an enemy turn, you can choose cards to defend with. Different cards have different attributes such as fire and water and they are strong against different anemies. Like any other card based game you have a deck and you can make new ones and stuff. One of the coolest things in the game is that the cards change over time, like food (used to heal) will rot and some items will get stronger. One of the bad things is the whole card battle thing gets really boring after a while. Another bad thing is that the level maps are too easy to get through. It's just basicaly walking forward with no traps or obstacles. Over all, Fire Emblem is a must have and Baten Kaitos is, well, different... but also a great game.

Well i know about Fire Emblem but not Kaitos. First off you should try both GBA versions if you havent. If you like the battle system then buy Path of Radiance. Its pretty much the same thing except better graphics and new story line and few new classes of characters etc.  |

| Fire Emblem on the Gamecube is pretty fun and such and Baiten Kaitos is good too, but I prefer Fire Emblem. Kaitos had a really random story and the voices weren't all that great, plus the battle system is kind of whacked. But I beat it and it's still good. Emblem has it's moments but has a lenghty talking in between things, lots of dialogue, and if a character dies in battle, it's gone, so you either restart or keep going. Some people are better than others but you can defeat with anyone as long as they are leveled up pretty well. |

Fire Emblem Path of Radiance is great, but actually, the GBA ones are better. The game of Baten Kaitos is good too. I've beaten both 3-4 times. Don't buy the gamecube if that is what your thinking. Wait until the Wii comes out for the cube's decline and buy it. If you honestly want Kaitos, buy a Tales of... game. If you want to buy a tales game. Buy Legendia first. of the console ones, Legendia is the worst. Then Abyss or Symphonia are equal. (Play Symphonia first) Legendia, and Abyss are PS2. There is a Path of Radiance 2 for the Wii. (Yay, look at my sig)

I'm a big fan of the fire emblem series(heh check my user name). I have to agree with thoes that say the GBA versions were better than the gamecube ones. Even though the graphics are not as good its more the storyline I prefer. If you do decide to get the gba ones go with Fire Emblem(the first one released in the US, also know as the 7th game in the installment).  |

Hate to break it to ya, but Marcus is a piece of crap, in both the 6th with roy or the 7th with eliwood. He sucks. Murdock rocks!!!

actually its supposed to be mars, marth's name in the japanese releases of the game...I've just been to lazy to change it. And yeas marcus is a piece of crap. |

Yes, I know, I have played the first and 6th one. I've beaten all the US release FEs. I haven't played BK Origins
