I haven't the slightest clue how to speak Japanese, but I want to learn. I'm planning on visiting Tokyo some time in the future and I want to speak the language. I heard there are different 'classes' of Japanese that you can learn (lower class, middle class, and upper class). |

My first encounter with japanese language when i watched Digimon in japanese. I wondered why the character in the anime spoke MetalGreymon (sound like English) altough the anime is in japanese. Then I began research and found out it is katakana. Soon I master most of the katakana characters. I realized that japanese is an interesting language. Today, i take Japanese language course.

I'm currently taking Japanese. In a way, it was because they don't offer Korean at my college. But I'm also just learning this language for fun and to be able to do something with it in the future. Japanese + Video Game industry (any aspect) = guaranteed job. I'll be taking Korean somewhere, some day because of that same reason; the industry is growing in Korea, and what better thing to do than learn Korean for that purpose? :) |

I think learning Japanese is a great way to show the Japanese people that you are well-adapt in traveling around that place, because you speak their language. It's also great to learn a new language. The same can be said about English. I'm a bit surprised to find many Americans interested in Japanese language. Ganbatte kudasai. (Do your best!) |

I am right now taking Japanese and Korean at OSU because I want to either work in videogames or work as a business translator somewhere. |

I started learning Japanese because: 1.) I like studying languages 2.) I wanted to challenge myself 3.) I was already interested in Japanese culture 4.) Spanish sucks and I hate it with every fiber of my being. That's about it...

Wakatta. It seems your Japanese is pretty good though. How long did you live in Japan? Living there, you must have learned a lot. |

when i was a kid, to tell the truth, we didn't really settle down in one country for long. we're like travellers. haha. i think the longest period i've been in japan was like.. one and a half years? that was when i went to the kindergarten there. now, from time to time, we'd go to japan for holidays. yeap, i realised that even though we're all asians, a lot of our qualities are rather different. and about proficiency in japanese, i still think i'm not up to the standard. LOL. it's self-study most of the time, after all.
