Yakuza, what are they up too?

I wanna know is what is the modern yakuza like in japan right now? How do they do their business? What I see in animes is they like to cheat people out of the shops or land. And offer loans then send out debt sharks. My friend say they are into phone scandals also. What else does the yakuza do? I always hear and see them in anime yet know nothing about the real yakuza. Yakuza is a gang that has illegal doings but they occasionally help people. Yakuza's trademark is white coat andtie, and sometimes you will see some of them had their fingers amputated... Maybe some of the Japanese politicians are members of the Yakuza... |

Sure it's like an organization that do illegal things. Some of them are scary or some them or almost scares people to death. But not all of them are bad. It depends on the people, though...  Cardcaptor Sakura: Blooming Days!: Dreams and Fantasies Becomes A Reality |

Yakuza are really the Japanese moffia. I heard a kinda funny story awhile ago about the Yakuza. They went to someone's house when the guy wouldn't give them their money. They actually came to the door and took their shoes off before coming in! I found it humourous they were kind enough to do that ^_^

| I recommend reading a book called "Confession of a True Yakuza" by Junichi Saga. Its about a yakuza and how he lived as one etc. You might find it pretty interesting. Its a true story and all..Its about the old yakuza ways but it still gives you an idea of how some yakuzas are like nowadays. (Mostly illegal stuff...) |

It is funny that Kreuz recommended that book, "Confessions of a..." because I have to read it for my college class on 'Organized Crime'. It is a very fast read to do, so it is possibly to read it all within just a couple of days. Most Yakuza activities include: corporate extortion, gambling, loan sharking, human trafficking, narcotics, real estate, bribery, stock manipulation, tourist scams, gun-running and pornography. If you ever watched the anime Speed Grapher they have some mob that act like Yakuza, And I dont think the game has anything related to the real ones in Japan.  |
