I have added a column to the download page: "Recommend". When you click on "try it" next to a song, you will be shown a list of other songs liked by people who rated the song highly. This way, you can find songs of similar genre. This system is new and may not be very accurate. It is based on statistics, so it is not very intelligent. Tell me if you like this new feature, and maybe it will stay. Also, let me know if you have any ideas for improving it.

Perhaps you could make the columns in the result set sortable, like those anywhere else on the site? I would also make the artist and anime names links to searches for music with the same artist or anime as with the rest of the music tables. Otherwise cool idea and great execution! EDIT: And wouldn't this go in the Music forum? |

ah, yes. my intention is to finally integrate it back into the main page. this is just a beta preview. EDIT: i put my updates in the "other" topic. maybe i should make a topic special for announcements, etc.

I don't know if I should say this here on in the music thread but here goes. I think the song rating for each song should include the vote ratio within the rating. That way when you see the list of songs rated a song with 500 votes and a average score of 9.4 is placed higher on the rating list than a song with a rating of 9.5 and 10 votes. I tested it out and I thought it worked well, I tried soramimi cake and got a pretty good list with many of my other favorites on it.  Jomunga eats your avatars. |

i tried it out and it's pretty interesting.just clicking on the 'try it' link for 'being' and songs that i listened to most of the time appeared in the first page^^.i'd prefer if each page contains at least 20 songs though >.< |

@jomunga: songs are rated by score, not by # of people who rated them. that is how a rating system works. if you want a voting system, go play with the request list. i could augment the sorting algorithm to sort by whatever, but then it would no longer be a "rating" system. your idea is interesting but impractical.

Woops I messed up that idea. Ok, not changing the rating system, but adding a ranking system. Basically combining the rating system with the vote ratio to get the ranking system. This is what animenfo.com does to rank anime on their top 200 list. But this would just make more work for Gendou. Unless their becomes a huge demand for a ranking system I wouldn't bother. it would be simple for me to code, if there was a mathematical equation. it looks like they use some scaler multiplier on the average then add to the number of rates.

"beta" is a testing phase in software, released to a public audience to find bugs. in this case, it is less buggy more incomplete.

Maybe you could make it so when you click on recommended songs, it downloads them instead of giving a whole new recommended song list  |
