If you could only pick one anime to show someone who has never seen anime and will never watch another anime, which one would you pick?

i won't pick any. i wouldn't even discuss anything related to anime with this person if he/she was like that. if he/she wanted to watch one and only one anime so badly, i'll leave the recommendation role to another person (and never return). =p

If I just met the person, and therefor had no clue what they'd like, I'd show them Kino's Journey. Now, If I knew what they liked, Here's what I'd show them: Depth adiicts (People who like finding every hidden meanings, inside joke, and red herring something hasd to offer): Evangelion (especially if they study religion or psychology Abenobashi (If they like to look for depth in odd places) But while FLCL is deep, I wouldn't suggest it because it takes multiple viewings to get. Book Lovers: Gankutsuou: The count of Monte Cristo of they like darker stories Nadia: The secret of Blue Water if they don't Kino's Journey for those I can't place in either category (or who don't want to see a reiteration of a book) Action Junkies: Cowboy Bebop Tenjho Tenge Samurai Champloo Airmaster Getbackers Sentimentalists (or people who just like stories that draw them in): Kino's Journey Beyond The Clouds, The Promised Place .hack//SIGN Romantics: Princess Nine Chobits Ah! Yes, definitely .hack//SIGN!... I'd also think about showing Ghost in the Shell SAC. I watch it every Saturday and love it!!(Have to be sure that person doesn't miss an episode though, or they're in trouble ^^) |

| My boyfriend doesn't like anime that much but he sat down with me to watch Naruto. That might be one of my suggestions. I really want to say Fruits Basket because not only is it cute but it has a great story. Samurai X is pretty cool for an anime as well. And maybe Getbackers. There's just so many good titles out there *sigh* it's hard to choose just one. |

Either something lighthearted or action-oriented. A good all-arounder (for me) would be Mononoke Hime. For a deeper story, I would turn to the Cowboy Bebop movie. Series, I think, are a no-no for starting someone on anime. Unless they don't mind sitting around for hours (or weeks) finishing a series, movies are a good way to go.    |
