Buy or download?
Link | by Xaria on 2006-03-07 06:28:50
I usually spend most of my pay buying anime. Now i dowload pretty much everything. Personally i think that its better and it saves my wallet. Just curious do you prefer buying or downloading your anime?

If you didn't buy anime (and video games) I wont be able to register how much money you have in your wallet.

"Yeah I got around sixty dollars in my wallet right now"

"Hey can I borrow fifty dollars?"

"yeah sure" *pulls out a fifty dollar bill* "just kidding"

"Your rich damnit! D<"

"No I'm not!"

"You have a chandiler in your hallway/front door!"

"So?"

Er yeah >.>;

Buy for better quality. I'm actually starting to buy R2 DVDs (quite an accomplishment for a 16 year old, ne?) for anime like Air, Mahoraba~ Heartful Days, and Mai Otome (aka the stuff I don't think will get liscenced).

Yes and that's why you only buy the anime you love and know you'll want to watch over and over again (the exception are the really cheap anime or if they are on sale). It's crazy to buy every single one unless you really can afford it. I download anime as a means of "preview" and if I really like it, I buy it (when it gets licensed and available in my area). I mean after all, in Japan it plays on tv for everyone to watch and then is released on DVD and whoever likes it buys it there (so in essence after downloading it's like I'm watching it on tv except it's on the computer). As mentioned some never make it to North America or outside Japan and thus invest in the R2.

@Triple M-san

My opinion, Mai Otome will be licensed eventually seeing Mai Hime was, though I agree with Air. It's a shame it as well as Kanon haven't been picked up but it took a long time for KGNE to get licensed so there's always hope it will follow suit.

I buy usually. But...I really haven't had too much luck as far as downloading goes... T_T I try to rent anime, and buy the ones I really love.

It's actually not too hard to do, all you need are the programs and the tutorials which there are many online. But most of the time we are too lazy to read them huh? :P

Who else in North America bought Howl's Moving Castle today? (I bought Whisper of the Heart too!)

Downloading goes very fast, some of them I burn on VCD or DVD, but only anime I really like and want to watch on TV.

Sometimes I buy, when they are on sale.

If its a real good anime/manga, i would download a few chapters/episodes and then buy the entire season.

Buying anime/manga will help the artists produce more and this is their way of making a living most of the time, so i think its a fair exchange.

Those who think they know everything annoy those who actually do.

well, i download anime and manga but if i really like the show or manga i buy it. i don't find it fair to rip off the people who work real hard to provide us quality entertainment.
