What got you into like Japanese music?

I was curious that some of you don't understand Japanese, but you still like Japanese music. How did you get interested in it?  |

for me, i find the japanese language interesting. since then, i buy anime vcds and try them out.the opening and ending theme aroused my interest too. people have different likes and dislikes. for liking japanese music...that's just the way i am. :)

ayumi hamasaki!!! she's what got me into jap music...most of my friends bag me because i listen to jap music although not understanding it...but i reckon it is the best music... 14gig of jap music...and growing...i think i should buy an external hdd XD originally music was just the tune...but people began to sing along with it...so i believe that the tune is what really draws us to like the song...^^

I liked the lauguage then I got into anime... and well it started from there. I really dislike "popular" music in Europe right now so I guess I tried to hunt down something new. I'll be waiting here. So if you come here, you'll find me... I promise. |

i listen to japanese music coz i watch anime. i barely understand it, but now i'm hooked.

| I don't understand the language either... but I think that goes to show how talented most Japanese singers actually are. I base my likes of artists of their talent alone and I actually find myself listening to jrock/jpop more and more instead of my old favorite American bands. ^^; My bf doesn't understand my love for the music though. Heck, it's inspired me to learn the language. I just think it's beautiful. |

I like the beats Japanese music have...a mix with chinese music and rap beats...that is the best. :) And I don't know the meaning of the lyrics either...but usually you can feel what the music is trying to convey to you.

I think it's great how you guys enjoy the music even without understanding it. I'm sure you can find the lyrics online, so you can translate it. |

| I like the language, I don't know Japanese. Sometimes I recognize a word and that's fun. I like songs because they aren't understandable to me, so I also listen to Spanish, Latin and Finnish music. |

watching naruto, which was my first steady anime, the intro and ending songs are so awesome....now im getting into the j-rock bands and such who arent featured in anime

For me, i understand canto/mandirin but only small bits of Jap. I guess Jap music has its own reputation for being more melodic than catchy(western music). After watching a few episodes of anime, i knew it was just my kind of music. Usually jap voices are better to listen to, for example their high cute voices that you hear. I really dont mind not understanding more than half of what their saying, their voices just act as another instrument in the song and its like background noise, like opera music, their not necessarily saying anything, just hitting notes and such.
Those who think they know everything annoy those who actually do.

I like songs where I don't understand the words. If I do, I get sick of the song very easily. I'm weird XD But yeah, and most Japanese songs have nice backgrounds and melodies XD

| I liked Japanese music when my cousin introduced me to anime when I was a kid...the music sounded nice and I have always liked listening to music...so yeah...I guess that's how it started...I'm not even Japanese but I have learnt quite a bit so I can sorta understand it...on the other hand...Japanese/Chinese/Korean music is better to listen to then the english songs I hear nowadays...well...that's my opinion anyways... |

One of the ppls in my band let me listen to some jrock stuff.... and i liked it. So i started listenin to jap songs but not anime songs necessarily until my friend who recently let me hear some anime songs and i came to gendou to dl some.
