i'm in the market for one of these, to help me out with the japanese classes that i'm taking and for (hopfully) my trip to japan. I'd love to get one of the $100+ w/ all the fancy features, but i'm a poor college student so i'm stuck getting something cheap, but i don't want something that totally sucks.. does anyone have one of these? Can they recommend one to me? any help is much appriciated

Sorry, can't help you there. Have you tried looking around on Amazon?

There was an excellent review site of recent models of various electronic dictionaries straight from Akihabara.. Ahh, let me see if I can find it.

Edit: Ah forget it, I can't find it. I did find this store that might help.

I know it's more pain to use and carry, but it would probably help you more to use the normal, paper dictionary in a long run. It helps you remember the word you are looking up better. And it's also cheaper. You can find some nice ones at any bookstores in Japan. There are some nice one that's very small, from reputable publishers (about 2-3000 yens).
