Okay,sorry for not making it clear.. I've met this problem before about a year ago. I was playing my PS2(Star ocean 3) that time BUT suddenly there came a blackout(electricity being cut,i mean)for a moment. When the electricity came back,i restart my PS2 but i was not manage to play SO3 or any PS2 dvd in it. Another weird problem is that i can still watch anime/drama/movie dvd in it but NOT playing PS2 dvds. I've met some of guys that met the same incident(the blackout thing) but suprisingly 8 out of 10 of them said that their PS2 'survived' the 'attack'. I wonder what happened... Anybody can PLEASE tell me what happened actually and teach me how to manage/recover my PS2 back? [MY EMOTION TODAY(look my sig belo):TYPE E] |

Well, not sure where you live, but you might want to get it looked at by a professional. It looks like part of your PS2 didn't survive the blackout, and that would be because you weren't using a surge protector. If you were, that's another story.. But yeah, you might want to get it looked at by someone or get a new one completely. :\ Good luck! This kind of thing makes me sad. :( |

some ps2 are flawed. mine is such a case. it often cant play the blue dvds and some ps1 disks. if u kno ur ps2 couldnt play them before the blackout this mite be the reason and only remedy is a new ps2. u mite also try to dust it out as suggested. uhm... i reread ur problem and cant erase wht ive typed... just get a pro to 1st tell u if its salvagable then get it fixed or buy new ps2

Yea either that or you might just need to get a new lens. Just go to a pro to get it fixed. If you have extra money try to get a new one. |

Thanks for all of your help although it seemed that i feel like crying after knowing that one of the solution is BUYING A NEW ONE..T-T. Umm.. what does it mean "to dust it out"? |

Well, depends on if you did buy an extended one, or if your PS2 isn't old. There's always the 90-day warranty, but it sounds like you've had your PS2 for a while.. :( Sorry, I really don't know what else to tell you. |

Actually I encoutered a problem similar to this and that of YoYo's. I know how to fix this issue, but the way to do so will violate the waranty and you will not be able to return it for any kind of refund. Chances are that the sudden power loss in some way effected the angle that the disc readers laser pointed, causing it to read many things incorrectly. Often times you will recieve the message "Disc Read Error" or something to that effect. If you want to know how to fix this, email me so I dont waste board space. But, I STRONGLY suggest that instead of trying to fix it yourself, that you bring it to a videogame store such as funcoland, babages GameXchange, or other gaming stores and ask them to have a look at it. Cost around $20 for a repair of that manner, and they may charge to look at it. But the repair of this calibur takes very little time and you may get it back the same day or the next. If you still want me to tell you I have to give the disclaimer that I am in no way responsible for the damages that may occure from attempting a self repair following my certainly inadequate instructions, and I will not pay for any further repairs that will certainly be nessesary if the repair is done incorrectly. If you accept that then email me at ferrum.lupus@gmail.com for further instructions. Or look online for blue disk error repair, or disk read error repair.

Is it possible that my ps2 has a one-year warranty? I don't check it when i brought it but if it's possible,than i might have a chance to bring it to the shop i where i brought it.. Eto..what's the use of warranty actually? Please tell me.. |

since there's a 'Fix my PS2 thread....'i'll just post my problem here.hope it's ok >.< i've got problems with my ps2 also...i've been getting disc read errors...and i just fixed it last month!!O_O...and um...don't tell me to turn the white knob in the ps2 disc reader...i've already did that.anybody else know how to deal with this?or i hafta buy a new PS2...(which is one option i'd like to ignore) |
