headphones/earbuds

Well, what do you have or use for your computer or mp3 player? Also, does any body know of any earbuds for my mp3 player that can play music very loud yet have no sound escape so it doesn't disturb the people around me? |
Re: headphones/earbuds

Well, I use earphones. As for the earbuds thingy, try the earphones with protruding speakers that fit neatly in the hole of your ear. That might solve your problem. |

Hah, I thought my Sony earbuds were 'soundproof' until I turned up the volume to max on my laptop. Quite a few people looked at me. But then again, the volume was at max ... and it was really loud. :x And to answer your question, I prefer earbuds over headphones any day. The sound is just much better with earbuds. And I'm kind of an audiophile. :P *wish I could afford $400 earbuds* ..can't remember what brand they were.. :( |

headphones are safer for your ears, since the music doesn't go all too deep in your ears. Of course it's bigger, so less convenient. Earbuds are less visible, but the music sounds more intense. Just choose: safety (headphones) or semi-invisible (earbuds). I don't know how much they both costs, since I am still using the same Ear-buds that came with the MP3-player. While listening to music on the PC, I use headphone. I prefer Earbuds, because the music goes deeper. |

I use my wireless headphones when I listen to music at the computer. Just in case I have to get up and do something I don't have to pause the music and I don't have to annoy my roomie by turning it on my main speakers. |

Headphones, and it's the only damn thing I use, and they aren't those flimsy lookin SOBs, either. These things cover the entre ear and block out outside noises almost entirely. The speakers on the headphones sound better than on the laptop, even if I'm not wearing them. |

i use headpones/IEM's mainly since no one else around can tolerate japanese music in the house :-) For classical, jazz, and generally soft music, i use a pair of Sennheiser HD-650 headphones. For vocals only, i use a pair of Sony MDR-SA5000 headphones. For rock and most other music, and when i am moving around at home w/ an ipod i use a pair of either Grado Labs SR-325i or Grado Labs RS-1 headphones. On the go i use a pair of Etymotic Research ER6i IEMs you need to first distinguish between in-ear-monitors (IEMs) vs earbuds. both are inserted in the ear, but IEMs provide a seal by usually plugging the ear canal, producing superb isolation when compared to earbuds. generally, IEMs sound better than earbuds (that cheap sh*t that comes with your mp3 player) but are much more costly. jomunga what's your budget? the inexpensive Sony Fontopia IEMs that i have do a good job of sealing in noise. the downside is that it has alot of boomy bass and the highs screech like a mother. if you can afford them, i recommend the IEMs manufactured by Shure. the most isolating IEMs that i have tried are the Etymotic Research ER-4S, but i wouldn't get these if the bulk of your music are 128k encoded mp3s. |

Wow bill, thank you very much for that information! I'm personally using these and it does put out a lot of bass. Er, but that's what I want, heh, and that's why I got them. And they're a lot cheaper. x.X But damn, I've read a lot of great things about that Sennheiser you mentioned, and I want them bad. Guess I'll have to start saving up a bit. |

My headphones just went out (I think I messed with the cord too much... -.-')... so at the moment I'm using earbuds that came as a backup with the headphones. I HATE EARBUDS!!! The damn things always fall out of my damn ear, and the sound quality sucks, and they start to hurt after a long while.... |
Re: headphones/earbuds

But earbuds are great for p*ssing off old ladies on the bus. Apparently on full volume my earbuds allow everyone around me tohear exactly what I'm listening to. And this old woman really must hate the Ramones. Pity. Earbuds all the way mate. |

One of the cushions fell off of the left earpiece, and I searched for it for about a half an hour, then later just randomly found it in my ear. |
Re: headphones/earbuds

I prefer ear buds for the main reason that it's smaller and cheaper and since i'm kind of rough on my ear phones they break easily and i have to replace them a lot. ^^; I wouldn't mind headphones since they can block out other noises and enhance bass.. but decent ones are too expensive >_> besides, i can listen with ear buds in assembly without being caught, ehe. I took off the ear cushins because they're useless and i keep losing them >.< |
Re: headphones/earbuds

I just changed my screwed headphones to some sort of earbubs recently. The good part, it's sound proof, on the outside that is. Others don't hear what you're listening to.The off side, it still spoils as fast as the others and is not sound proof on your side =/.Oh, and it has a volume control too =D.Best part, listen up headphone users~! Although I prefer headphones to earbuds, the ones which I'm using has a rubbery hooky thingy which hooks onto your ears like headphones >D.It's actually one of the newer designs out in the market. |

To be perfectly honest, since I wear glasses, Headphones are just uncomfortable. Simple as that. |
Re: headphones/earbuds

Personaly I use Headphones and perfer them even with my glasses. That might just be because I dont like loud music much and earbuds hurt my ears :( |
Re: headphones/earbuds

I dont like earbuds since they fall out of my ears, and they hurt after a while. |

earbuds hurt my ears too, they don't fit properly and tend to randomly pop out so i have to really jam 'em in so they'll stay. it's uncomfortable. plus in the winter when i'm out walking with headphones they keep my ears warm lol. anyway the ones i'm using right now are cheap headphones that just go over the top of the head but they fold up so they fit in my purse/pocket pretty easily. but they're starting to get annoying, they don't sit where they're supposed to. so i want new ones. we have some at work that are earphones that hook over the ear and don't have any kind of band or anything over the head. they just hang there lol. i might try them just because. the over the head bands slide around too much, the behind the head bands get pushed around by the collar on my jacket, but earbuds don't stay put. best solution for me i think. as for the computer, i just use a small stereo with the volume down low when hubby's home, when he's not i crank it :D and i'm getting a headset for teamspeak so i might use that for listening to stuff saved on the computer. |

earbuds with sizeable silicon ends like the ones riceboks uses are extremely comfortable. you forget that you are wearing them, as opposed to earbuds supplied by portable players that hurt in about 15 or so minuites once you insert 'em. plus, for the most part, if you get a good seal, it stays in the ear no matter how much you move your head. full size headphones are even more comfortable though (to me), even with glasses on. |
