My foods 12 class is doing an international food unit, and I chose Japan as my country. I need some good recipes, if anyone knows of any. I need veggie recipes, soup recipes, and meat recipes, but I'm not allowed to make sashimi. Please help me.

Miso soup? it's pretty easy buy a miso soup bean paste from japanese/asian store. 1) boil water. 2) add reasonable amount of miso soup paste into boiling water (according to the instructions on labels or taste it) 3) add diced tofu into the soup (tofu pieces are to be about 1/4 the size of sugar cube) 4) turn the heat off, and add chopped green onion right away 5) done and enjoy! the only catch: buying the soup paste may not be acceptable by home Ec teachers? |

2nd one = veggie tempura! chop green onions, onions, carrots, yam, sweet potatoes - or watever u wish to put (but 1st five are recommeneded) - into long, skinny pieces. then dump them into a mixing bowl, add about 1/2 ~ 3/4 cup of water, add one beaten egg. then add flour until it looks like sticky - how should i say - "glue" (?). (Excuse me for rough discription.) then mix, then pick up several peices of flour-mix-coated veggie pieces and fry them like french fries. now for the dip > mix soy sauce (3/4 portion), and sesame oil (1/4 portion). add hot chilli powder for flavour. EDIT: Ahhh.... crud i always forget about modity button... sorry. |

Look up Wakame soup. It's real easy, but you're gonna have to find some wakame seaweed. :o Big Asian supermarkets should have wakame. For veggies, go for some fancy tempura. Meat? ..Hmm.. Okonomiyaki! All the ones I listed above are relatively easy to make. It's the ingredients that can be challenging; if you don't have any kind of Asian store around you, you're out of luck for most ingredients. :x Edit: C'mon TIE, modify is there for a reason. ;p And moving this to Japan. |

I KNOW THE BEST MEAT RECIPE! Get your barbecue sauce and some prenium beef from the store. Preferably sliced.Gather some charcoal, steal your neighbour's wire mesh for barbecueing and also their little pot.Throw in the charcoal and lgiht it. Place the wire mesh over the top and cook your beef on it in a unknown corner. Once the beef is cooked, take it off and deep it in the sauce. The perfect shabu shabu plan! >D |
